    Default Snoopy 2 Blimp

I'm starting new thread as the HOOD Blimp seems to have been retired for the season. *( see HOOD Blimp thread--for the info leading into this topic).

The SNOOPY 2 blimp is at Mansfield AP during this weekend for the PGA Golf Tour-Deutsche Bank Championship from theTournament Players Club in NORTON. Snoopy 2 will also be around for the upcoming Patriots game over Foxboro. ScanBoston has put together a great list under the Hood thread and Ecps92 will be doing and update later tonight. Bill, Eric (wb1hbu) and myself spend a good day at the Mansfield AP. After setting up a listening "command" it was just over 1 hour before someone from the AP approached us to see what we were doing. After the usual "Gee whiz mister we just want to see the blimp " routine -- they let us be. A little after 1pm or so another AP looking guy was sitting at the table next to us-- after seeing the radios and cameras, he had the same questions. We had the same answers--but this time he turns and tells us that HE is with the Blimp crew. Well after the introductions he gives us some insight as to the whens and wheres they are flying as he is the video man hired for the live camera shots. Within 10 minutes we are in his van and are getting escorted into the AP and across the field to where Snoopy is parked. We get some nice close up shots and a little more info as to the operation. After some 20 minutes or so he lets us know that they are getting ready for take off and we need to go back to the public viewing area. A genuine nice guy helping out a couple of scanner enthusiasts !!!! We finish the day watching the blimp take off and in three minutes or so-- is floating over the PGA tournament. We did manage to find the blimp talking to its ground support on 121.950. Mission accomplished. He did say that another camera man was hired for the Patriots game but for you Foxboro guys--keep in the 121.95 and lets us know what you here.

    Hello,

All the frequencies I heard was also picked up by the other folks. There seemed to be two Concession frequencies and I wonder if one of them was VIP Tent.
    Code:
451.9125 D431 Food "Bring a box of chips" "Goto 4"
452.0250 D731 "Bridge" People and Carts crossing the bridge (asking permission and indicating crossings).
    452.0375 D532
    452.4875 D662 Media Coordination
    452.5250 D732 Volunteers
    452.5375 D743
    461.9125 D516
    464.5500 250.3
It appears there may be a pattern to the DCS assignment. Maybe there were multiple sets of radios used instead of one set that can be on every channel. I find that 0.5 MHz spacing is commonly used when multiple repeaters are using in the same system. The frequencies in the brackets was not monitored and was entered to show a possible pattern. The 452.0375 frequency breaking the pattern maybe due to another set of radios and repeaters being used.

    Code:

    Hello,

I looked up nationwide licenses on the FCC site and noticed the rental companies are licensed for the entire bands like 450 to 470 MHz and 470 to 512 MHz. So no clues there.

I have seen comments about some radio rental companies using the same frequencies from rental to rental.

What i mean't was, there is set-up well before the Event and the Radios/Repeaters would have been installed, tested and well in-use
before Earl made a mess of things. We have found plenty of UHF over the years [low power] for TPC

And a Dukw or Duckw doesn't fly

Notes to the Wiki later this week, but a quick report from Saturday On-Scene

Snoopy-1 [New Skin?] flew early Saturday for Make-a-Wish and it was choppy so they did not fly for the afternoon video feed.

451/452 Mhz channels seem to be the primary in use, including some ODD Pairings [All DPL 600/700's] the odd pair was 452.5250 / 457.5250
usually the 457.5250 is paired for LP [Fast food / Cruise Ships] with 467.7500 or 467.5250 [European]

The TV / Radio feeds [IFB etc] occupy the 476-479 Band [25+ freqs found]

Also a smattering of 461-465 / 465-470 pairings and simplex for numerous ops from Food, to Golf Carts to Score reportings from each hole as well as
Regulation rulings [did he mark his spot within xyz seconds - odd]

Heading back down today [Sun] to Mansfield airport [Very Friendly and Open] to try for some Snoopy Photos and more monitoring.
Look for the Blue Jeep Liberty [Two Occupents - M and F] or the two of us [Camera, Binoculars and Scanner] sitting on the Picnic Benches

Waiting to see what the Weather will be as it get's closer, to decide what day I plan for an On-Scene Monitoring.

On-Scene Report from Saturday and Sunday at the Mansfield Airport

123.0000 Mansfield Airport [1B9] aka King Aviation [Mgr] shared Freq with Plymouth Airport

Mansfield is very visitor friendly. 3 Picnic benches, plenty of parking and the Radio is piped over a speaker from the office

Besides MetLife, Mansfield has hosted over blimps this summer
