Question GMRS - Who here is licensed?

As the subject says, what SNE members have current GMRS licenses? If you do how often do you use the service, and how do you use it? I have had two licenses, both of which have lapsed due to inactivity.

I believe your repeater on 625 is down, has been for a while. Dave Hill may be able to help you fix it, if you get in touch with him.

I'm on my third GMRS license WQMY962 as I too seem to keep letting them accidently expire. We have a local area GMRS repeater in Lincoln MA. However I'm much more active on several of the area ham repeaters.

As it shows in my signature. I get on a couple private repeaters, chit chat, etc.

Should have also mentioned that my GMRS call is WQDJ863. I guess technically I own the 462.650 repeater in Bridgewater. Open to licensed users. The most active repeater around is 462.600 Kingston, there's a ham style net on there Wednesday nights at 8

I too seem to have the memory lapse when it comes to renewing.

WPWC320 was my first, WQIL960 the second and WQRD823 the current call sign.

I had a GR300 (462.650) running off the tower on the house for greater Attleboro coverage, but it has since developed problems and has been taken down. I'm looking at taking the duplexer and two portables to make a portable 2 watt repeater in a Pelican box.

There are enough repeaters around that it is a viable service in this region. The only problem is that a lot of the repeaters are transient or unknown. MyGMRS has listings, but some are very outdated. I suggested to the owner there that he set up some type of regional monitoring system that would have volunteers monitor to ensure the listed systems are active and he seemed receptive to the possibility, as he is working on a site redesign. Just about every repeater listed in Rhode Island on the site is off the air and has been for quite some time.

Scott, I know you don't generally ask a question like this without a reason. Are you planning something?

More curiosity than anything else. If I was putting up a repeater I'd probably opt for an amateur radio DMR repeater at this point. I was considering the "third time's the charm" license but not sure I want to spend $65 for nothing.
