    Default Superload oversize load escort

There is a series of power plant parts being moved through CT via special transporter. The entire transporter & load is 200' long, 21' wide, 14' high and weighs between 1,000,000 and 1,500,000 lbs. The route is from a rail siding near Bradley Airport to East Granby via Rt 20 to Rt 10 south in Granby. Then south on Rt 10 to Simsbury. That is the first night. Then down Rt 10 to Rt 44 and out to Rt 8. Each move takes 6 days and there will be 6 parts moved. They go 3-5 mph for the 90 mile trip to Oxford CT.

I was taking some photos so not in the car for the radios this time. I got some traffic on the handheld:
    853.9625 $515 CSP Escort (5 cars)
    2 close call hits
    159.6000
466.0125 or 466.6125 - the remote control steering guy

shots of the thing making a 90 degree turn. 2 tractors pushing it

Chris, is the 853.9625 conventional, trunked, simplex?

The crews moving the vehicle were using the UHF radios. I hope to pin down the frequency and tone tomorrow night.

Not sure if it was a different crew or a second user but the guy driving the huge truck had a headset tonight and was on 159.6000. No tone as I was searching for DMR as well. Tonight going all the way out to the old Waring plant in New Hartford.

If they ever do another run I'll listen in. I work a half mile down the road from the construction site. And the path they take through Route 6 in Woodbury takes them within a half mile of my house as well . Should be able to pick it up.

No, it is all over. The turbines are all at the new power plant. Perhaps in 30 years.....
