Re: Middlesex county PD MDC IDs?

The only rhyme or reason I ever noticed with the MDC's in the Lowell area, was that the Lowell PD ID's used to match the license plate of the patrol car. Obviously there is no real way for us to tell if unmarked cars (regular PC plates) did as well. I'm not sure about the ranges for the other towns,...

Re: North Shore CMED

Typically, north shore EMS units will hail CMed on Med-42, and Merrimack Valley units utilize Med-4. Depending on the priority they will then be assigned a channel; the north shore USUALLY uses the two number channels and valley USUALY will use the single number channels, just based on the location ...

MA > Middlesex County Fire > Chelmsford Fire

Chelmsford Fire has completely phased out the low-band 33.76 for tone outs. All done by Computer/Phone line and backup is strictly phone. Still have access to the 33.66 for radio failures.

Re: Lawrence PD Digital?

Rumor has it that their going back and forth on encrypting patrol operations. It makes sense as they may block out the Fire and EMS users who are all separately dispatched, and frequently monitor the LPD Operations channel. Sounds like the detectives and narcotics will each have their own frequencie...

Re: Trinity EMS Company operations

Over the years, Trinity had been sub-contracting their radio services to various vendors. Hence the switch to different LTR systems after a few years. Lately, they have fallen off of my radar, but I would not be surprised to see them on a local, private LTR trunk. I do know they are NOT using any di...

Boston MCI?

I've heard a few agencies speak of an active MCI at 226 Porter Street, East Boston. Transit Police said it had something to do with the blue line, and Boston Fire were inquiring if it had something to do with the MassPort property. I don't have enough information for an incident notification, haven'...

I have mine set up as a P25 system. When I'm in range, I receive Phase 1 and Phase 2 traffic. Some of the Boston city services appear to be using PT0 (Phase 2, time slot one) and some use regular P25 (Phase 1). It appears that the scanner does not recognize Phase 2 encryption as it does not mute it ...

They're most likely going to keep the LGH-Medics. They have used them since their inception, and in the past, would not allow Trinity ALS to respond into town if an LGH unit were closer. Westford Fire runs ALS, and will be a back up also.

Cambridge TG 1229

I caught TG 1229 on the Cambridge P25 system yesterday afternoon. It's listed as "EMS Special Ops" in the WIKI. There was a conversation between a Cambridge Fire unit, and EMS command for some type of incident. However, this talkgroup was in Phase 2 digital (PT0), according to my 436HP. That was the...

The Chief elected to not go completely encrypted. The dispatcher has the option to encrypt comms, and probably did so by accident. As you said, Ch-2 is 100% encrypted and is used by detectives, talk around, and to dispatch priority calls.

Boston Fire Drill - Deer Island

BFD using Ch-4 as the Fireground for a training fire on Deer Island. It caught me off guard at first, as it sounds legitimate. Command even requested a 2nd Alarm.
