BFD Ch.5

Does anyone know the status of BFD Ch. 5? There have been no toneouts since at least yesterday. I'm hoping it's maintenance or updates and not off the air.

Boston Fire Unknown Dispatch Type on Ch 5

OK been trying to figure this out for awhile and my searches have come up empty. On BFD Ch 5, I will occasionally hear an unusual tone out. Instead of the usual 2 tone alert for still alarms, and the long single tone for box alarms, there is a series of rapid single tone beeps. This is the followed ...

I'm not sure, but I think that activity on LocPS 2 is related to the search for the missing person in Waltham. Heard Air 5 doing a search of the river.

Multiple BPD channels being patched to Boston Citywide 3 talkgoup (as if in scan mode). Haven't noticed this before and not sure why they would do it.

MSP are SOPS-1
BPD Ch-5

Having fun posting with myself lol

ok it would appear BPD is operating on Ch-5 (dist 14). Maybe some activity on BAPERN 4 but haven't confirmed that yet. For some reason unbeknownst to me, BPD dist 2/3 is being patched with Citywide 3

Boston Calling

Just hanging out on a Friday night and decided to start a Boston Calling thread. so far BEMS TAC-3 BFD TAC-3 SOPS-1? LocPS-2? not hearing much police chatter (and yes, I now HUPD is encrypted but no encrypted traffic). I assume BPD and MSP are also covering this event. In light of the events in the ...

I guess one other possibility would be a TG on the Nanticket TRS, but I search it continually when I'm here, and I've never noted any such TG or MEMA activity. I will monitor during the storm and see what I can find

I am able to receive MSP zone 4 from Nantucket (in some parts of the island) understanding that this zone is not designed to cover Nantucket. I guess what I'm wondering is does MEMA have an active frequency for Nantucket on VHF designated for the island (e.g. ,153.965 for Eastern Mass). The closest ...

MEMA on the islands

Anyone know if statewide MEMA alerts can be received in Nantucket on VHF or the MSP trunk? I can receive Zone 4 pretty well and will monitor MEMA South, but I prefer the VHF alerts as I use tone out. Any wisdom in advance of the potentially approaching TS Hermine would be greatly appreciated! Thanks...

Professional Ambulance?

Does anyone know where Pro has gone? TGs on Cambridge analog and P25 systems have gone quiet. Can't find them on MSP zone 1 or 5 either. Old conventional frequency is inactive. Haven't noted any Cambridge activity on Armstrong either. Any help would be appreciated. I'm also curious why CFD FG 14/16 ...

Cambridge TG 18800 ? OEM

Got an interesting hit on the cambridge trunked system. on TG 18800 I heard what I thought was "Lighting plant to fire alarm on OEM." "Fire alarm answering." "Lighting plant on the air." "On the air, (time)." Not sure about "lighting plant" but definitiely Cambridge fire alarm. Pretty certain I hear...

In looking at the Reed groups, it would seem that 569.1 and 879.0 would be the closest to the numbers 570 and 880 you have found. Is it safe to assume the the tone frequencies used must coincide with the Reed groups? If so, these are probably the tones. ecps92, can you clarify what at SIREN activati...

great info Steve. i really appreciate it. Please post the MEMA data if you find it. I don't know the protocol for MEMA either, but I heard a tone on the VHF over the weekend for a plane down in Plymouth and several severe thunder storm warnings.

Thanks again for the Boston Fire info!

In my infinite stupidity I was unaware rebanding was simply a 15mhz shift so I didn't check 852.4375. My apologies. But really, "Couldn't be bothered"? Funny. In 30 years of scanning I never heard of the "search" function. Must be lost on a lazy dope like me. I just like to ask stupid questions on f...

Great stuff. I'll contribute what I can and hopefully we can get the tones for all houses. Be nice to find the marine unit tones. I like to use this for tone out of special units (rescue, hazmat, marine unit) to tone out for special calls/larger incidents. I wonder if tone out can be used on 483.162...

Thanks Steve. I was looking for E22. Found another. 08 is E8 L1. I haven't quite figured out the tone out protocol for Boston. I cannot tell what runs are actually toned out. Apparently at night they don't always use the tone out system. Instead, they will phone the house for single company runs suc...
