Re: MSP Troop E to be eliminated

I would think even though OTAR 'could' be used, the techs want to hands on every radio. I would suspect that C Troop will add a C-Ptl-4 and that the troops will be broken up geographically a little better. C is busy enough to have 3 distinct patrol channels with an overload channel like C-Ptl-2 is u...

Chemical Biological Radiological and.... errr..... and..... Nuclear? Something like that. HazMat in other words.

Re: MSP Troop E to be eliminated

Which allowed them to drive to and from the Turnpike in cruisers and in uniform. Which meant that many more "off duty" traffic stops and that much more court OT they could get. Stupid Herald. Stupid maybe, but also more troopers on the road for a longer period of time, even if incremental. I've oft...

Re: Uniden SDS100 Scanner

My #36s I've found aren't great on simulcast.

UPMan is a good source of info, but the RR forums are such a cesspool of losers it's tough to struggle through the forums to glean any good info (unlike here).

I heard a WRTA bus on the Emergency channel on the P25 system this a.m. calling in a crash.

As for Van Pool, I'll see what I can find out next time one crashes while I'm on duty. I've had 2 in 3 shifts so you may not have to wait long. <rolleyes>

Their primary is now UHF and no one around them is VHF. They were the last holdouts.

It may be the obvious migration path for politicians and those who know nothing about radio.

Some places will go, some places will resist, only because of local control, some won't go because of performance issues.

I previously thought the T-Band giveback would go away. Now? Very doubtful.

Probably the only radio mag that wasn't a load of PR BS and nonsense.

I've had my own personal portable (2-way) radios for over 25 years, and have a fair bit of experience in programming them. None of them have ever been (or probably ever will be) programmed to bootleg off a trunked system. Get a scanner. While your reception may not be quite as good, there are severa...

AAs for 436

(Do batteries count as scanner equipment?) The 436 chews up batteries pretty good (Which is fine). I always run mine on battery unless I'm in the car and mine run out. I've been using the Powerex 2700 nimh which have been very good. However, they are now dying a very quick death and not taking a rec...

Even had a Regional Group of Detectives using a NHSP Interop, but they were within the Rte-128 Belt not in NH :) Or just bootlegging frequencies in simplex mode UHF. There was an agency around my old home town who did that. I lived on top of a hill and could hear them across town no problem, LOL.

One possibility for DMR could be with all their "issues" they got sold bill of goods that DMR is unmonitorable. I know salesmen would never lie......especially to public safety departments.

Not sure if others do it the same way, but in my #36's the Mass P25 system, is 1 system. I just punch sites in and out, and keep the talk groups for Cambridge FD, Massport, Worcester FD etc always plugged in. If you can't get them, there's no harm.

Add to that the fact that radio systems are more complicated and less easy to program. With PL's and UHF, you generally don't get 'skip' any more, which may have led someone with an interest to figure out why they were getting a station 2 time zones away. Many casual hobbyists don't understand trunk...
