Re: Fire District 8 Simulcast

The notes on the Worcester Wiki page say that this is a simulcast of 33.70, but I don't see that as a mutual aid frequency on the Worcester County Fire Wiki page. What is the actual frequency this simulcasts? 33.70 is the old frequency 31.10 is the new repeater which is cross banded to the 453.75 w...

Re: DMR use with public safety.

I was talking with a suburban fire chief today. He said that there is going to be more use of the various fire district interop channels and far less of departments using each others channels on mutual aid calls. I mentioned the Stow PD system and he pointed out that police generally make far less ...

Re: DMR use with public safety.

Read the NIOSH report on the Lancaster Mass fire. Then we'll talk about interoperability. That being said, what was the issue or lessons learned from this fatal fire? One of the issues was the lack of communications between abutting towns that constantly ran to the same calls together. It's all wel...

Probably not a worse place in the state to try and get full 8/700 coverage.

In Gardner I occasionally get the Warwick tower. No real rhyme or reason (other than a cruiser needs to be in range).

What was the previous receiver? But their system is definitely better to the south and east than to the north. Pure coincidence that someone who had something to do with the system lived in that direction away from the city.

Re: Portland 800 System P25 Upgrade

The P25 system has much better performance. On 95 south, heard it R9 all the way down below Biddeford. It's pretty good on the hill in OOB and readable down on East and West Grand. The analog system, NFW in those places.

Re: Worcester Red Sox [formerly Pawtucket]

Who says A or AA or Cape Cod League is less competitive? You want to take your family to a game, a higher level game or a pro game? The higher the level the more you're gonna pay. If they had stayed in Pawtucket, chances are ticket and associated prices would have gone up and you'd be complaining ab...

Re: Worcester Red Sox [formerly Pawtucket]

You want to take the family to a cheap game? Go see a AA, A or Cape Cod League team. I shot half a dozen Worcester Bravehearts gas this season. My wife came along to watch and she paid to get in. It didn't break the bank. I haven't read the details but I don't think the state is paying, I think they...

I'm in Scarborough/OOB. Bayley's to be exact. The P25 system comes in much better than the analog system, same radio, same antenna etc. Haven't ventured out yet with it programmed. These are the TG's I got:

Re: Worcester Red Sox [formerly Pawtucket]

Good for Worcester. Bad for Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Providence? Too bad. Whatever. Yes, I'm biased. Does Rhode Island are about Worcester? No. Worcester is finally emerging (50 years too late) from it's bunker mentality, 'us against the world.' The city is taking off. I just hope it can stabilize a...

Keep the great info coming. (I can't wade through all the garbage at RR to bother reading their self inflated threads) I'm debating whether to pull the trigger sooner than later as I have a couple roads trips coming up. My main reason for getting one is because of simulcast. The #36's are (as everyo...

Re: MSP Troop E to be eliminated

I would think even though OTAR 'could' be used, the techs want to hands on every radio. I would suspect that C Troop will add a C-Ptl-4 and that the troops will be broken up geographically a little better. C is busy enough to have 3 distinct patrol channels with an overload channel like C-Ptl-2 is u...

Re: MSP Troop E to be eliminated

Which allowed them to drive to and from the Turnpike in cruisers and in uniform. Which meant that many more "off duty" traffic stops and that much more court OT they could get. Stupid Herald. Stupid maybe, but also more troopers on the road for a longer period of time, even if incremental. I've oft...
