What scanner do you have?
In that case, I will suggest she read this about the close call. Beats entering frequencies.

Re: Find a frequency

If your scanner has close call/signal sweeper function, just use it near the hospital

Re: Unication G5 Dual Band 450-520 & 700-800MHz Voice Pager-Receiver

I will, I've been field testing the hell out of it and put a lot of miles on the car since my last post. Worcester...crystal clear, All 3 RISCON zones...crystal clear, Boston 700 Overlay...crystal clear. It locked onto the RISCON South Zone on I95N in Mystic, CT and didn't lose it. It locked onto th...

Re: Unication G5 Dual Band 450-520 & 700-800MHz Voice Pager-Receiver

I know it's an old thread, but I just picked up a G5 on ebay. I never thought I had a problem with the RISCON system with my various Uniden, Whistler and GRE/RS scanners, but WOW! Crystal clear audio without any distortion whatsoever. The programming software is a bit bulky, but a few hours of trial...

Did I miss something?

While I have been busy, I didn't think I was so busy to not see this: http://www.firepics.net/nws.jpg I'm currently hearing Meriden on 162.4 and Pack Monadnock on 162.525 without lowering my squelch and something on 162.55 with the squelch dropped as low as it will go, but it's so far into the noise...

Re: Welcome to the new Scan New England website

Scott, Very nice job migrating and maintaining a basic consistency. I just had to migrate Firepics to new software for many of the same reasons as you had here. I tried phpBB, but the database for mine was so messed up that it just threw errors. I ended up going with myBB. There is a lot of backend ...

A lot of people are familiar with DHART, as it is the largest lettering on the vehicles, and thus the most recognizable, but not...

I'm going to step back on this one as I would probably be getting into assets that should not be discussed.

On another note, I hear that Boston EMS was not invited to partake in this drill and that Boston Fire fielded all EMS related questions during the scenario. :pint:

"a case where a cyberattack knocks out public safety radio"

I guess this would be an EMP? Or am I just too comfortable with the UHF analog system?

I believe the radio will have to be authorized onto the MSCommnet system by an administrator-even receive only. Without proper affiliation, the radio will not receive, and quite possibly will receive an over the air signal to brick it if it attempts to affiliate without permission.

Curious as to how responding mutual aid companies will communicate with HFD since no one has DMR except Holyoke FD.... A secondary analog channel for mutual aid that can be patched at the console. The bigger question is how reliable it will be on the fireground. I believe the IAFF and IAFC are stil...

I was told that "girly" radios like my EX600 would be useless very soon on the BEMS system, so I deduced that we aren't that far behind. Don't know about BFD.

Gary, I'll confirm it from a conversation earlier this week. Can't confirm the vendor, but rooms are being prepped all over the city with little notice (and little regard from what I've heard) to co-located agencies.
