Re: ICE MotoTrbo TG 562

They probably use "Nextel" generically for any push to talk phone based system. Assuming there is one available. AT&T offered one, Verizon talked about it but never did, and Sprint failed spectacularly with their conversion of Nextel to push to talk on their network. Or they could just refer to any...

United Civil Emergency Services Agency

SHTF group in RI? I was looking at myGMRS's database and noted a "new" 462.700 machine in Providence (I believe it's formerly Eric Nihill's East Providence repeater since he has been out of the game for a while) listed by United Civil Emergency Services Agency as a closed system. A brief google sear...

Re: Monitoring High Flying USAF/USN Remote Piloted Vehicles

I know when my father was flying with VP-92 out of South Weymouth, I heard the P-3s on the Boston tower frequencies on occasion. The callsign they used then was just the tail letters for the squadron and the plane number, i.e. Lima-Yankee 7. This was in the early 80's so things may have changed, but...

Well, I think I finally got enough to give a good representation. 11 minutes, lots of dead air (they seem to know when I was recording.) RISCON-Providence Fire from Branch Ave & I95 in Providence Worcester-Worcester PD from Shoppes at Blackstone Valley in Millbury All of the rest are from my office ...

Starting to get NYPD in Attleboro, receiving competing signals on most VHF Weather frequencies.

Wish I could stay up, it's looking like it will be a good night.

What scanner do you have?
In that case, I will suggest she read this about the close call. Beats entering frequencies.

I will, I've been field testing the hell out of it and put a lot of miles on the car since my last post. Worcester...crystal clear, All 3 RISCON zones...crystal clear, Boston 700 Overlay...crystal clear. It locked onto the RISCON South Zone on I95N in Mystic, CT and didn't lose it. It locked onto th...

I know it's an old thread, but I just picked up a G5 on ebay. I never thought I had a problem with the RISCON system with my various Uniden, Whistler and GRE/RS scanners, but WOW! Crystal clear audio without any distortion whatsoever. The programming software is a bit bulky, but a few hours of trial...

Did I miss something?

While I have been busy, I didn't think I was so busy to not see this: http://www.firepics.net/nws.jpg I'm currently hearing Meriden on 162.4 and Pack Monadnock on 162.525 without lowering my squelch and something on 162.55 with the squelch dropped as low as it will go, but it's so far into the noise...

Re: Welcome to the new Scan New England website

Scott, Very nice job migrating and maintaining a basic consistency. I just had to migrate Firepics to new software for many of the same reasons as you had here. I tried phpBB, but the database for mine was so messed up that it just threw errors. I ended up going with myBB. There is a lot of backend ...

I'm going to step back on this one as I would probably be getting into assets that should not be discussed.

On another note, I hear that Boston EMS was not invited to partake in this drill and that Boston Fire fielded all EMS related questions during the scenario. :pint:

"a case where a cyberattack knocks out public safety radio"

I guess this would be an EMP? Or am I just too comfortable with the UHF analog system?
