Amazing the stuff you find when you run the MSP systems in "ID Search mode" instead of "Scan mode".

Re: ICE MotoTRBO TRS Decoding Project

Does anyone have an ID for TG 317? They call themselves "KCG" and I have heard locations called off in Mashpee and Sandwich, but I am not making the connection. In the past from time to time I have heard them do roll call type transmissions where all units in the field are called and (some) answer. ...

Re: Idea - wiki page with common frequency errors

SDR's work perfectly fine for tuning and accuracy if they are used correctly. I have some "small experience" with such things... :D I agree that a "bad frequency" list is probably not ideal, but maybe a Wiki page that outlines bandplans might be a good idea. As to databases, I always wanted to find ...

Re: Low Band is still alive

Low band still can be a lot of fun from a DX perspective. All of the above antennas are great but as noted so hard to find. So...if you have the space and the time, why not roll your own and build a half wave dipole you can mount somewhere vertically? There is a ton of info on the interwebs about ho...

The Shack is Back - Late 2019 Edition

Hi Folks, I have very slowly but surely been working my way back to getting my station back online. While not quite elaborate as it once was I've managed to make some changes, move it to a new location in the house, and make it work. I finished up yesterday, so thought I'd share it with you today. K...

Cape Cod Mall Security now DMR

Good morning,

It appears that Cape Cod Mall has moved their operations to DMR. Confirmed this AM. They are still on their frequency of 462.450. Color Code 9. Only active talkgroup I have seen thus far is 100, numerous different radio ID's.

Re: SDS200 Observations

I was talking about per-channel filters in one of the threads too and it was brought up that at some point enough may be enough in that regard, in other words, the amount of capacity that takes up in system memory might bring the thing to a crawl. So I think it's a great idea but I also think maybe ...

It usually trickles down to SNE too....but as Mike says RR is the place for that, and the subsequent discussion is sometimes productive and at times hilarious. They are (over)due for a new one....I truly hope they will add a fast way to get to filters. That's a biggie from where I sit. But I'm adjus...

Registrations

Suggestion to legitimate hobbyists that are far outside of the New England area but want to register, and you are surely encouraged to do so. This site gets crapped on by registrations from places that, well to be nice "quite clearly have no interest in the radio hobby in New England". When we revie...

Re: NE Frequency Database Updated!!!

Not sure what happened there. That data is from the same file. One of the steps along the way after import into Excel is to change the column to numbers and run it out to 5 to the right of the decimal point. So I'm not sure what zigged when it should have zagged there. I'll scroll through next time ...

Re: NXDN Network 178 Site 13

After periodically monitoring this system via Airspy/SDR#/DSD+ for several days, it appears that it has yet to have any activity on it. No channels populate the channel activity window of DSD+....so it could be a work in progress. The signal is strong enough at my house that I would surely be seeing...

I confirmed the activity on 853.2625 123.0 and watching the spectrum at the same time I don't see activity on the other frequencies. Interesting they have 3.

Re: NXDN Network 178 Site 13

Yep, and Gary not hearing it up his way either. Sadly it's too weak from here and as we know a good part of the traffic on these systems goes dark after business hours. I'll run one of my Airspys on it tonight while watching the :Bruins: hopefully take care of business....

Re: NXDN Network 178 Site 13

Now that I hit send on the last post I now see that it has indeed again decoded as "Current Site: L178-13 with a RAN of 13. So I'm seeing it from 2 different locations on the Cape. Not sure which signal was stronger. Maybe it is from downcape? Next time I get out that way I'll investigate.

Re: NXDN Network 178 Site 13

The signal, a NXDN 4800 baud control channel, is present as I type this. It is too weak to be decoded by DSD+ but my ear tells me what it is. The other day, and I'll try again from home tonight, it showed as stated, 178-13, with neighboring sites of 1 (Yarmouth), 3 (Plymouth), 6 and 7 (yet to be det...

Re: NE Frequency Database Updated!!!

Only the Private Land Mobile area of the database is used, so MC is not in it. I'll consider adding it during the next update as it's probably easier than the Wiki page which should likely be retired. On another note.... I have now added all of Long Island NY, all Boroughs of New York City, and West...

NXDN Network 178 Site 13

Hi, Anyone hearing a NXDN control channel on 460.025? It's moderately strong here and showing up as L178-13 with neighbors of L178-1, 3, 6, and 7. FCC licensing has always been wonky on these systems but using the updated NEFD I see City of New Bedford and Town of Orleans as area possibilities but t...

Re: SDS200 Observations

Thanks for the filter info. It's going to be interesting to see what else can be done with this scanner.
