You can listen to this online and via the various scanner apps, too. I supply the feed for the C8 fire departments and Holland PD.

99% of my operations are simplex - mobile to mobile - with the family. Also use an HT while out on the property back to the house.

New GMRS Repeater

I just got word of a new GMRS repeater going up near the Millbury/Worcester line on 462.650 MHz. If anyone is interested in PL tone info, please email me directly. Should be installed with a test antenna tomorrow or the beginning of next week. Reception reports with your location and relative signal...

Touch down about 3/4 miles from my house but no damage here. Lots of downed trees blocked us from getting out of town to check on relatives in Sturbridge.

No power, cell service, or Internet and probably not for another day or two. Got a generator and plenty of gas so things are OK here.

Excellent toy. I love mine and it sounds terrific even for my picky audiophile ear. You can even run scanner streams through it. :D

The further inland you go the more non-marine activity you will hear on the marine freqs. Tons of hunters and even a construction company or two (one was on Marine CH 13 in Worcester a while back).

... or hand out a couple GMRS bubble pack radios to the local kids. Be sure to tell them that they CAN talk to the school administrators but they aren't allowed to. I would bet that the school would find a new freq fast. :) Funny story: For a few weeks during a major school building renovation many...

Well, as the person who does all the radio licensing and equipment acquisition at the school I work for, I can tell you that unless someone tells them that it is wrong they will have no idea. On the other hand it may be difficult to get them to understand the difference between one type of radio and...

Just ordered an ICOM FR6000 IDAS UHF repeater for work today as part of the narrow band conversion process. It was only $150 more than a similar analog repeater but it will give us analog now and digital capability when we need it in the future. Once I get our business license updated to include dig...

I've seen a number of groups in Central MA try to get going and not get off the ground. I've even offered free use of one of my former repeaters in the past and still didn't get any takers. An informal radio meeting frequency has been mostly successful. Over the years I have used MURS, 2 meters, and...

The repeater I was talking about is still not a done deal. In fact, the friends I was setting this repe...

There * may * be a GMRS repeater going up just south of Worcester this summer. Details are still in the making but it will be on 462.650 MHz and have a community tone panel on it for multiple PLs. Sorry for the sketchy details but I'm still working on the site. If it does go up I'd be happy to allow...
