Re: One Voice Network S.E. MASS

I don't know what you mean by "150 mile radius" or even where you got that number from, but you aren't going to receive anything from 150 miles away. Depending on where you are S.E. Mass, you might receive Abington (Site 61) or Barnstable (Site 56), or maybe Scituate RI (Site 62). I can receive Abin...

Re: SDS200

I moved this to the Scanning Equipment forum. As I never had the hum issue, I didn't order the part. I did do the firmware upgraded and VHF/UHF analog audio is in fact more clear than it was. I was in Cambridge (near Alewife) this morning and got Georgetown PD with good readability and minimal noise.

Re: Help to ID

453.0375 shows as a Cap+ repeater with a Color Code of 9. It is apparently LCN 1, with Channels 1/2 as rest. Signal is not strong enough to get audio or TG information. Might be a good frequency to chase around with my portable SDR/DSD rig when I have some time. Couple of other new ones. Again analo...

Massasoit Community College

WQRS927 464.3250 licensed for Brockton campus. At least it seems that is who this is. DMR Color Code 1. Not running as a OFT MotoTrbo. Three TGs as follows, 201 Slot 2 202 Slot 1 212 Slot 1 Plus a lot of private call traffic. Seems like it's facilities related. There was mention of the Radiology lab...

Re: SDS100 Fixed??

That's very good news. Was your original SDS100 an early production unit? Also, do you have any of the add on modes enabled? By which I mean DMR, NXDN, Pro Voice.

I'm seriously considering selling my 436HP and buying a SDS100.

Re: SDS 200

Okay. People have asked about that, but it doesn't seem to be a priority for Uniden. I've noticed it, but not TG to TG so much. Definitely system to system and audio type to audio type, though. Overall though, audio is much better than on either of my 536HPs. Automatic Volume Control. There is no AV...

Re: SDS 200

I only use Sentinel for setting up the Profile settings. I use ARC536 for adding actual data to the radio. People seem to love Sentinel, but I find it unwieldy and just hard to use. What is AVC? I purchased two SDS200 and have had them running for 2 or 3 weeks, only two complaints. Radio one, the AV...

Re: SDS 200

I don't know that anything has changed, but I don't hang out on the Whistler forum enough to really know. From what I've seen there is a lot of grumbling about the non existent TRX 100/200 radios that were announced some time back. There are a couple of things to like about the Whistler scanners. Pr...

Re: SDS 200

http://www.scan-ne.net/wiki/index.php?title=Network_178 has a site in Boston that you should be able to hear. They don't have anything north or west of Boston, most of their sites are in the southeast part of the state and RI. Gary Scott, I don't believe my Whistler TRX-2 has any problem with DMR sy...

Re: SDS 200

I haven't had any front end issues with my SDS200. So far, no problems of any kind for that matter. My SDS100 is currently at Uniden being repaired after 10 months. I will still probably pick up the SDS200, but I hope they worked out the front end IF overload issues that plagued the SDS100. (Especia...

Re: SDS 200

You're likely to be waiting for a while, as Whistler has posted nothing about the TRX100 and TRX200 since the initial announcement. The one thing I like about Whistlers is the "Lists." It's much easier to have a conventional frequency or Talk Group show up in several lists that to try to do the same...

Re: Mobile Antenna

Sold to PCTel in 2004 from what I can find. I don't think any of their old products are still sold. I think PCTel also owns Maxrad in addition to Antennex.

I think they're "Laird" now.
Antenex -> Laird
Larsen was Radiall/Larsen at some point but is now just Larsen again
and also Maxrad ->PCTel

Re: Mobile Antenna

I had one of those Comtelco antennas some years back and was not impressed. Overall Larsen has a pretty good reputation. I think they're "Laird" now. If length isn't an issue, the Hustler multiband scanner antennas are very good. The old RS scanner antennas were pretty good too, although they tended...

Re: Marlborough Flea next Saturday 2/16/18

A really big crowd, but there always seems to be. Of course it's mid winter and there isn't a lot else to do. I actually spent more time on a phone call with a friend than I did wandering around the the tables. I did notice a good deal of not all that old commercial gear, especially Motorola. Nothin...

Re: Mobile Antenna

It's Ebay Mark. Lots of people claim lots of things that aren't even remotely true. That's either through ignorance or dishonesty. It's why you really need to read the listings with care and know what you're looking at or for. If I were trying to listen to the 800 stuff only, I'd look for something ...

Re: Mobile Antenna

That will work pretty well for 700/800/900 Mhz, but it's a zero gain quarter wave (more or less). It's not specifically a scanner antenna.

What are you trying to listen to, besides the MSP trunk and 800Mhz police departments on the Cape?

Re: Marlborough Flea next Saturday 2/16/18

I got there around 10:00 AM. Parking lot was crowded, as it always is. Seems like there were more sellers this year than the last time I went. I ended up getting a Dell 14" flat screen monitor for $2.00. I was actually looking for something smaller, but for that price I figured that if it didn't wor...

Re: Marcus Communications Tier III

From what I can tell, the Mass Convention Center system is using CPS-P3. I'll edit the DSDPlus.networks file on my laptop for my next trip to listen to the system. Depending on weather, that could be tomorrow, although there doesn't seem to be any shows or conferences going on there then. The system...

Re: Marcus Communications Tier III

Thanks for the explanation, Chris. While I won't be programming that system, I'll be using DSD+ to do further work on the Mass Convention Center Authority Hytera DMR system. It seems that a good deal of the update to DSD+ had to do with decoding Hytera DMR T III systems.

Re: SDS 200

UPMan stated on the review thread at RR that it's "undefined" as of now. Which is the same as on the SDS 100. As apparently, is the "Master" USB port on the front of the radio. There is someone on RR offering a GPS module with RJ11 plug for $40.00. I don't use GPS that often unless I am leaving New ...

It's become pretty tiring, actually. I mostly confirmed that BAT is using it for their individual transports in Brockton. Not that I'll listen, but I do like to try to figure who is using what. I'll leave it to any other interested parties to decipher the rest. This is very difficult to listen to wi...

Re: SDS 200

Despite the frequent criticism of Siren on RR, no one has yet come up with a mobile app for the x36HP scanners. It seems that you and I are the only people that used Siren as a display in a mobile environment. That made using the 536Hp in my truck a pleasure instead of torture. I'll be driving up an...
