Stridsberg Multicoupler

I just upgraded my shack with a SDS200. I was using my attic antenna with a RG6 cable to a cable tv splitter one going into a spare tv and the other into SP-1300 splitter going into 996P2 and PRS-600. Needing another connection to the SDS200 I purchased the Stridsberg Multicoupler. Working great so ...

Re: SDS200

Just to add a little on my new SDS 200. I upgraded from the 996P2 also and am seeing a huge difference in the RISCON reception. With the 996P2 I could receive the Metro and East zones ok in Fall River. With the SDS 200 I now hear the North and South zones great. I do have a problem with some extra n...

RISCON programming with ProScan

I just noticed on my R.I. RISCON 800 mhz Phase I system. They have 4 zones and I noticed when using ProScan there is a Band Plan button. Three of the zones have under Band Plan 0, Base: 851.00625, Spacing 6.250. Band Plan 1, 762.00625, Spacing: 6.250. One of the zones has nothing filled in with the ...

Uniden 996P2 tip

If you own a 996 model just a tip to mute the scanner.
Just push the menu button to silence the audio and leave it powered on. The scanner takes less than 5Watt and it's probably better to always have it powered on compared to switching it off and on every day. :sox:

Re: set up

Probably better to just move the radio. You will have loss of signal through that much cable. I was wondering if the building your in has any radio transmitters on the roof, that could be another reason. :Bruins:

Program a system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWrOAEaTRv0 Program a TG. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjGhAydPPmo It will be a P25 trunk system. (P25 Auto) Just enter the control channels (CC) for the zone you wish to monitor. Then find the TG's for that zone you wish to listen too. If it was ...

Chief,

I would just go with this model, you don't need the spring.

Re: Indoor Antenna

Hi Chief,
You will need to update the RISCON programming on the Home Patrol. The RISCON East zone is fairly new. You will receive Tiverton PD and all of Aquineck Island and the Water Rescue TG 5&6 and also all RISP zones. The control channel is 860.3125. :sox:

Re: Indoor Antenna

Chief, not to go off the topic. Do you have the Riscon East zone loaded in the Home Patrol? You will receive the RISP South and North zones with the East zone.

Base Scanner Antenna

I know we all answer the questions on receiving P25 signals. I have a attic antenna up about 25 ft. provides great reception on MSP and RISCON East and Metro zones. But I don't hear the control channel on the RISCON North zone. I have this base antenna on the back of the scanner (996P2) and guess wh...

Re: TRX-1 Programming Tips

Hi Bill, It's a very confusing scanner and EZ SCAN software doesn't help. I found some very good instructions on RR about setting up the TRX-1. But you follow the instructions and they don't work. I like being old school and program manually, but this scanner doesn't like like that. The instructions...

TRX-1 Programming Tips

Hi All, What is the best way to load RISCON in this scanner? I know it has 4 sites and I am closes to the East site. Do you load the RISCON system 4 times to select each site. Or do you load it once and lock out the site you don't want to listen to. Also has anyone tried to make any digital ad...

One other thing on Freescan it doesn't support DMR programming!! That was my reason for the change to Proscan.

Re: Uniden SDS100 Scanner

My only Uniden is a 996P2 it's a good scanner. Receives P25 pretty clear. But to come out with a $650.00 scanner and to be having all these problems is a major disappointment if you ask me. Then on top of that you have to pay extra for DMR and ProVoice feature. Looks like a little more beta-testing ...

The BCD536HP is a great scanner. But if not to savvy look into the 996P2. It's never to late to learn. P25 is big out there with the MSP . How is the reception in the area? There are a few member out that way I am sure they will jump in. Some one always will have a file to make it easy to just upload.

I think they sound better on P25. The 800 mhz antenna is a plus to if you get one. R/S still has them for 23.99. I think Whistler is asking 40.00. Good luck and happy scanning.

Dave, What have you decided?? Take a ride to the Ham Radio Outlet in Salem, NH. I am sure he must have most scanners running. There is always the argument over the P25 sound quality. Plus you must get a 800mhz antenna for the best reception. Let us know what's up.

Unication G5 Dual Band 450-520 & 700-800MHz Voice Pager-Receiver

Anyone thinking of trying one? Like to see how it receives the RISCOM system. Ideal for 700/800 MHz. and UHF P25 digital trunking systems, the Unication G5 receiver allows professional results in a compact package. It will also work for conventional channels within the UHF, 700 and 800 MHz. bands co...

Bearcat 996P2

Hi everyone I just pulled the trigger on 996P2 scanner. I will go with the Freescan s/w and use Marks Eastern Ma file. Most of my gear has been GRE stuff. I'll take any advise from site members. :Bruins:
