238.25 Active

Hearing a LOT of chatter on 238.25 just above or below the threshold. Not really able to decipher exactly who, what or where.

1300 hrs local.

I've had a Diamond discount since about 1986. It was $80 then and is up at it's 3rd house. Still works great. I also have a Scantenna, which also works fine. Even though my coax needs updating, when I plugged the Scantenna into my new 536 and loaded u conventional frequencies, I found I can hear Hol...

Define Southern New England

ymmv, but my favorite lists are broken up into Mass SP analog, Mass SP statewide P25 (which includes Cambridge, Massport, and western Mass SP P25), CT SP, RI Statewide, among others.

I believe you can export individual favorite lists, and I will if you're interested.

LPS 7 is basically regional police interop and there are 2 roll calls a day, 1 for north 1 for south. That has been 'in the system' for Worcester since the system was first turned on. I'm hearing that there will also be a patch for Mid-State D8 and South County D7 in the system, as there is on EDACS.

On the Parking System, Talk Group 16 seems to be traffic control for shuttle vans and buses. It seems that there is a staging area and only so many are allowed through at one time. Maybe there is a specific pick up/drop off area for those vehicles. I didn't hear enough of that to update the Wiki, b...

With the next 2 events at the stadium you'll hear everything they have, between the Bee-otch-ay concert and then Copa America.

Rumor has it (although off topic) the fake turf is being replaced when they pull up the grass after Copa.

Mid-State (District 8) being the bastard child that it is still uses 31.10 as primary (although cross banded to UHF) with Boylston and Petersham (?) I think still on low band as primary. All the RECC fire departments are simulcasting on their low band channels but afaik, UHF is primary.

Here's something I've noticed with the 436.... I know that the 436 & 536 mute on encrypted traffic (prolly a 'deal with the devil' thing). I still have my 346, and I've been using it to scan large swaths of 'other' stuff. There are some various conventional channels I scan that are usually encrypted...

I have learned from the Motorola website that the only P25 radio they make is the APX series. I wonder how the radios will be programmed. I bet fire and UMass EMS will have the surrounding towns in the radios for mutual aid. Since Worcester police rarely leave the city for mutual aid I bet there ra...

I was wondering how long it would be before this topic popped up.

383.3 is definitely one to keep in the radios around here. When they're local, they do drops over South Post at Devens. Coming from the west they roar over the house at (seemingly) tree top level.

Boylston is in District 8, hence everything being backwards and making no sense......

There are plenty of places that have 'inputs' as outputs, cross banding from low to UHF and even some holdouts that haven't narrowbanded yet. We're now boldly moving into the '90's!

And be thankful it speaks fast. If you've ever heard some of the other places that use this rubbish, the pace is so slow you want to smash the radio before the transmission is done.

Echoing above you'll need at least a monopod if you get the 150-500/600. The Sigma's and Tamrons are OK, but tend to vary quality wise from lens to lens. I have a Sigma 10-20 that has been excellent (my only off brand glass) but someone else who had one said his was a dog. And I'm very very picky. I...

Yesterday (7-21) has 2 C130s at treetop level over GDM, presumably Rhodys making drops at Devens south post. Was across the street not at home so neither photos nor radio intercepts.

An odd profile however as they transitioned from westbound and turned sharply to the north to go eastbound.

You're both more or less correct. Personally, as soon as I hit Rt 2 west from my location (Gardner) I put the Athol site in (and run both sites).

I've found I'm hearing the Warwick P25 site at night, and usually just B-Ptl-1.
