Whistler 1098 help

#1 Post by Avidlistner » 04 Aug 2018 12:33

I’m trying to update the firmware. However, Windows won’t connect to the device via USB. Has anyone been able to get it to connect? Also, my main complaint with this scanner is it seems like the scan speed is kind of slow compared to my analog Uniden, so I was hoping an update would help.

Have you installed the driver? Add it to your cart and checkout $0 it won't ask you for payment info.

Remove the SD card from your scanner, drag & drop the .INF file to your SD card using a SD card reader. Reinstall SD card into scanner and make sure your scanner is OFF when you connect it via USB.

Did you get the Windows "da-ding" when you connected it via USB?

What's showing up in Device Manager?

Also try using a different USB port.

When I plug in usb, scanner just says it’s charging. Computer does not indicate there is any connection.

Try uninstalling the USB driver in Device Manager, reboot, then reconnect.

Try downloading and installing the latest version of EZScan from Whistler.

What version of Windows?

FYI in case anyone needs a new or longer replacement USB cable for their Whistler SD card scanner (WS1080, WS1088, WS1095, WS1098, TRX-1 or TRX-2) I purchased a 6-foot AmazonBasics cable for my TRX-2 and it works GREAT. The cost for the cable is just $5.49 and you can get FREE shipping if your order total is over $25 or if you have Amazon Prime: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB ... B00NH11N5A
