Dabbling in DMR

#1 Post by magellanous » 01 Aug 2016 10:15

I ordered one of those inexpensive DMR radios from Tytera with the expectation of being able to access the VHF system on this end of the state. I've heard that there is going to be a new repeater site in the Bourne area which should put me in decent striking distance.

In the meantime, am I correct in stating that I should be able to listen to Falmouth Hospital if I obtain the usual info such as talk group and color code? Is anyone else in the Cape area using DMR on ham radio VHF?

If its VHF and you know all the TGs and CCs and understand how to program that radio, then it is possible you will RX them

The only VHF DMR activity around Cape Cod is amateur related. CCH is on UHF.

I ended up buying the DMR upgrade for the 436. All though I've been listening to other DMR groups without issue (such as Cape Cab), I can't seem to hear anything from Falmouth hospital on their frequencies. I used to hear control channel data streams when the frequency was just put through a conventional bank but nothing now.I'll have to go back and look at the programming in the HP software. For those of you listening, is it a fairly active site?
