As publicized earlier this summer, Taunton's Police Dispatch is now centralized at the Fire Department. Police still are monitoring the radio at the police station, as it is next to the front desk/lobby. There are some bumps along the way, with the cruiser MDTs, and whatnot.
The most obvious change is one over the air.
Formerly, units in the field would refer to dispatch as "840" (reference to their license, WBN840). However now they call the new dispatch center as "Control", and the radio at the police station as "Headquarters". Units in the field are still referred to in the same manner, with the first digit being the shift. (1 - overnight, 2 - mid day, 3- evening).
The change over occurred yesterday morning.
