Brockton Fire "Channel 7"

#1 Post by garys » 02 Mar 2018 15:00

Brockton Fire Alarm just told all unit to switch from Channel 1 to Channel 7, which the dispatcher referred to as "The Event Channel."

I've never heard of that one before, anyone have any ideas?

From the FCC database, I could not find a use for these. They may be repeater pairs that are not shown on any of the radio freq websites.

453.6375
154.145
154.310

154.310 is the repeater output for Channel 1.
I'm not sure about the other 154 frequency, but it might be a repeater input.

453.6375 doesn't seem to be active right now.
Since they have Channel 1 simulcast on UHF, I expect that as time and money allow, they'll move operations to UHF. Currently, they are an island of VHF surrounded by UHF and UHF-T departments.

They made an announcement on 153.830 to go back to Channel 1. The Wiki has that listed as Channel 4, but maybe they use different nomenclature for it.

Event channel is 463.7125. It is capable of both analog and digital. The concept is to coordinate the efforts of all city departments during "events." Although it has seen limited use for every department.
