Capacity Plus DMR System Using 451.700

#1 Post by Scott SNE Webmaster » 28 Dec 2016 20:41

As the title says....we have other posts here that point to "Allcomm" and/or "DC Rentals". Color code of 13 and only one TG (250) showing thus far yet I haven't heard any audio on it. It's surely strong enough to recover audio if there were any. Haven't noticed this until last night, but the signal was weaker and I was concentrating on the Cap+ system at Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster. Not sure what this one is. I see that UMass Dartmouth is licensed for this frequency but if it's them, like many others, their license is out of date.

Yes, I used my own search feature both in the Wiki and the forums, and at RR, and at FCC ULS...etc.! That said I'm probably missing something obvious.

I found this by accident when trying to enter a frequency for the Gillette Cap+ system. I'm getting good signal in Stoughton, so it's likely a Boston or Waltham site that I'm seeing. It's a fairly busy site, with three frequency pairs active (6 OTA channels). When I have time, I'm going to try to figure out what the other frequency is and see if I can get DSD+ to track it.

Stay tuned.

451.700 is Channel 1/2 and is currently the Rest Channel. Active TGs are 11, 15, 220, 250 as of now.

Thanks, Eric. I'm getting forgetful because I see I posted about this before in a different thread. No WiKi page, so maybe we need one.

Yes, it is great having a DMR scanner with record as I was able to pick up more of the testing and get the channel names over the past couple of days. The layout is similar to last year.

TG 11 as heard on the Boston Cap Plus site is M & L Transit Systems of Woburn. They operate shuttle buses for the 128 Business Development Council weekdays plus event shuttles and private charters. Nailed this one down yesterday and was getting ready to send this to be added to the wiki.

I see that there is a sort of place holder Wiki page the AllComm and DC Rentals MotoTrbo trunk, but there is nothing there. I'm going to try to work on gathering the information from the various threads in which it's been discussed to see if I can start filling in some of the data. Hopefully, that won't be a duplication.

Are any of the talk groups on the Hopkinton & Waltham sites also heard on the Boston site?

I think so. I'm listening to the Boston site and heard testing on TG 228. One of the tests mentioned the Hopkington Site, so it appears there is a connection of some sort.

Today and tomorrow will be good days to try and figure out how this system works. Of course the rest of the year, it's pretty quiet and somewhat boring.

I'll program my TRX-1 and will be monitoring all day tomorrow while the National Guard troops I'm driving to Brookline are on duty. I'll also program in the Head of the Charles talk groups, in case other Marathon related traffic appears there. Will also try to do some monitoring after dinner today, as I can receive the Boston site L/C in Lowell.

Mark, how is the audio on the TRX? I'm running the Waltham site on my laptop with DSD+. The quality of the audio varies widely from transmission to transmission. Some are clear, some are choppy. Boston was worse.

On another note, I heard another new TG on the Boston site before I switched over. TG 18 is another Spanish language user. My Spanish is very, very, limited, so I don't know what kind of traffic it is.

The BAA users are not all that busy, but I expect that to pick up considerably, as what we used to call "The Pack" starts getting to Newton and Boston. Boston EMS started to get really busy around 1300 or so. That tapered off around 1600 or so, and by 1700 we were looking at starting to close down tents and move mobile units to the the finish line and back into the pick up areas between Berkley and Clarendon.

Those interested will want to start listening to Boston EMS Tac 1 around 1800. That's when the runners who bypassed medical will not start getting sick. For some reason, we used to get a lot of calls on the T station platforms from Chinatown (I think they call that Tufts now), to Park Street, Downtown Crossing, and other stations.

Gary, the audio was OK for the most part. The Waltham site audio was choppy at times, Boston site was clear 99 percent of the time. I did not get the Hopkinton site, but the Hopkinton shuttle bus talk group 253 was heard on both Waltham & Boston. I was monitoring from the parking lot behind Brookline Town Hall.

Thanks. I got Waltham better than Boston, but both were a bit choppy at times. I didn't hear enough of the Hopkington site to figure out who was doing what.

It's interesting to note that today, Waltham appears to be back to One Voice mode. I'm seeing the same six digit TGs that I've seen with other One Voice sites. Also, and this is interesting, it seems to be operating in Con+ mode, not Cap+ mode. That's site 171-62 for One Voice, with a CC or 2 and a neighbor list.
