Belmont PD

#1 Post by jrm3607 » 14 Mar 2018 17:34

Belmont PD is using Channel 3 for operations it appears as of currently. I noticed last night they are active on 453.2375 CTCSS 77.0 since then 471.4125 has been quiet with occasional open carriers.

Also I have identified TG 1101 on the Cambridge trunk as “BELMONT FD 800”. TG 1099 appeared to be Belmont Emergency Management, but I am not positive on that one.

Police or Fire? They are licensed on that frequency for the fire department. Which is how we have it currently listed in the Wiki.

I also had it listed as fire, however I have heard both PD and FD talk on that channel before. Fire only uses it secondary channel, not as a fireground, which make me think it could be a Townwide Secondary channel?

EDIT: Belmont PD is still on 453.2875, one user keyed up the main channel but operations are still on 453.2875

ETA: They are operating on "Channel 3" right now (1753). This is the fireground channel, so it's less likely to be some sort of shared interagency channel.

I'm inclined for now to leave the Wiki as is. If this becomes permanent or more common, we can always change it.

It's not unusual for smaller city and town FDs and PDs to have each others channels programmed into their radios. Even more so when there is a shared dispatch center.
