I didn't mean to suggest that the troopers had the DOT channels in their radios. That was sort of a separate thing to figure out what TG is used for what by DOT.
I agree that about switching zones, especially during a pursuit or some other high stress incident. Even having to switch Zones just to talk to the cruiser on the other side of the road would be a PITA. Back about 20 or so years ago we responded to a crash on the High Bridge. There were troopers from A, H, E, and F on scene. No one was sure exactly who was supposed to take the report for the fatality.
I think reprogramming all of the radios would be required, which is a time consuming process.
Oh, I've also heard the turnpike service truck x00 on H Patrol 2 as well. I expect they'll show up on C and B as well.
Nice of them to port C Patrol 3 to Zone 5. Now we can listen to all of Troop C on Zone 5.

Don't think MSP Patrols had those Mass DOT Channels, maybe only those former Troop-E units did and only those [E Troop] will need to be reprogrammed.
Only careful monitoring will tell. Kind of like some of the old STX Radios, Troopers who worked Airport Details, got lucky and had Massport F-PTL-1 by loosing something else.
I would have thought keeping E-PTL-4 would be the plan [casual observer] but that might require an entire reprogramming for ALL Radios because E-PTL-x was in a different Zone of the Radios, which would cause users to switch Zones, just to get to the H-PTL-x and then switch zones back

The only problem with that might be how the radios are programmed. I don't know, maybe ecps92 has a better insight. I also don't know if the radios can be reprogrammed over the air (OTAR) or if each portable and mobile needs to be "touched" by radio tech. Now that details on the turnpike, theoretically every radio would need to be reprogrammed. Or they could do it as new cruisers are put into service.
Or they could do nothing.

I have DOT 7 labeled as Extension and DOT 8 labeled as HOC. IMHO it would have made sense to leave the tunnel division on E-PTL-4 (which could eventually be renamed to H-PTL-4) that way the now expanded Troop H would still be able to use H-PTL-3 as a talkaround.
