Mass DOT
Anyone listening during the storm to MassDOT? I'm hearing some scattered traffic on low band (still my favorite band). Anyway, it's very limited. Heard nothing in the last couple of hours. I know it's never been used that much, just expected more today. And I'm hearing nothing on the state DOT trunking channels. Curious if I've set something up wrong.
Re: Mass DOT
Mass DOT has gotten quieter n quieter with the greater use of the Contractors [and use of Cellular/Data]
Low Band is still there as the wiki was recently updated
Have not tried the 800 channels for them in sometime, but likely some activity there.

Re: Mass DOT
Do you know which DOT talkgroup IDs were active?
Re: Mass DOT
I heard DCR "Harbor 1" TG661 on the 700 Mhz system with plow traffic as well.
Slightly OT, the City of Quincy Cap+ system has been pretty busy today as well. TG 10 is whoever does the plowing in Quincy. I think it's the Highway Department, but I'm not 100% sure. I thought that the data channel (851.8500) might have AVL data for the contractors, but it's been silent.

Re: Mass DOT
I have heard Mass Pike plows using 47.32R PL 167.9 from approximately Route 128 west to the Millbury area. West of the Millbury area 47.06R PL 210.7 is used into the Brimfield area. West of the Brimfield area 47.14R PL 192.8 and 47.20R PL 136.5 are used.
Re: Mass DOT
Just heard DOT Highway Operations (TGID 32240) on the State System on Zone 5. Talking about someone falling in a snow bank.

Re: Mass DOT
I had forgotten about those new low band channels for MassDOT. Go low-band! Thanks for that franciedog. I'll program those in. Thanks too Gary for the TG 661. Will look into that.

Re: Mass DOT
I've heard sporadic conversations on Zone 5 TG 32688 which is listed in the Wiki as Mass DOT 22. They are road, snow and ice related but I've never heard anything that would give a hint as to the area of use.
Re: Mass DOT
I recall picking that up on the 700Mhz Overlay system, but as with you, not enough to get a precise location. Same goes for DOT 7, which the Wiki shows as Turnpike Extension. There was some on DOT 8, which is Tunnels and Bridges, so that helps to locate it. At some point the MASS DOT Wiki page should be updated to show the P25 TGs.
Re: Mass DOT
In the header for the Mass DOT it does point out that there are TG's on the two Massachusetts TRS systems.
