Rhode Island Statewide Thread.. Part II

#1 Post by W1KNE » 18 Mar 2011 14:55

After some time organizing and going back and fourth, I have decided to, and finished making some significant changes to the WIKI page for the RISCON system.

When you go to the RISCON page, you will now see the following.
• Both Providence and RISCON are now back on one page.
• The talkgroup listing on the main page is JUST the municipality talkgroups.
• Because of how the RISCON system is orginized, there is a handy link under each individual town and city quicklist header, which will jump you to the section of the talkgroup page, where you can find all the town/city's talkgroups.
• The very very long "all talkgroup" page, can now be found on a seperate page.
(This page includes radio techs, all the metrowide channels, etc...)
• The bullet lists on top, now only contain those departments which are full time on the system.
• The very long table of contents is now gone. Because the quicklist section is the first part below the frequencies, and each has that jump to link, it is now easy to get to the section where you want to be.

It became clear to me the page was still semi-designed from the "this is a new system" standpoint. The system is really now a fully in-use, in depth system, so the page needed to be cleaned up in this fashion.

So take a look when you get a chance! It took me quite a while to edit it.

ALSO
Because the RISCON thread here was really getting long (almost 575 pages!), I have decided to close it and open a new thread. This will make it easier for future changes, additions and information we need. Remember, please read the link about the purpose of these two threads before posting.

Thank you for your time and all your input!

Now that you mention it I did see that listed somewhere a while back. Not sure if it was Wiki or RR data base.Anyway sorta sounded like US Customs or somthing. Requires more monitoring to nail down.

Its deffently a Quonset talk group. I heard activity this morning at pier-1 and pier-2. I also heard someone being refered to as officer so it must be port security or something.

On right now, another new talkgroup found on the South Zone, 213. Sounds like IT related comms at one of the Hospitals. Talk about the Lifespan internet and aligning the satellite dish. Sounds like they're in a Mobile hospital or communications unit. Talk of raising and stowing the sat dish. South County Hospital mentioned. Now talking about securing the generator.

I caught that also. They were flashing up on both NTH and STH zones. I guess we can add that one to the list of "Hospitals" Talk Groups. You could also add TG204 RI Health Dept and TG225 Kent Hospital as confirmed health related talk groups as well.

I heard Glocester PD tonight on the RISCON North (1939) doing normal PD operations, and the VHF appeared to be quiet. Others can very this, but it sounds like they may have switched over completley.

I am adding Glocester to the list officially. The PD was dispatched on the RISCON system for a medical call, while the VHF frequency remained silent.

Cranston Police seem to be using the RISCON this morning, as 1504 is active or was active with a chase. I do not know if they are simucasting or not.

I just heard them using their conventional frequency right now. Nothing on RISCON. So unsure what you heard, but their ops are still conventional as of this moment.

Cranston Police Training?

I'm starting to think that it was training. A police chase going on for 2 hours on the same streets  didn't make sense to me, and as you pointed out, there was nothing about it on their UHF frequency.

A New talk group is active on the NTH Zone TGID1651. Its a police dept with locations given such as the Greeville house and Summerfield Court. Maybe Smithfield PD? Anybody have an adress for the "Greenville House"? They had a fight in progress at that location so Im guessing its a tavern or bar.

Numbering makes sense for Smithfield.
Smithfield FD has been assigned TG 1648.

I agree just need confirmation though. I would also like to point out that the North Zone has had an increase in signal strength recently. Im now getting it at a full 5 bars from my location where I had it only 2-3 bars a few weeks ago. This must be due to the new sites that were added to the system.

The first time I have heard this, it was on the North Zone.

Cranston FD has been conducting the 800mHz roll call checks for better then a month now. Generally they conduct the 800 test right after their roll call on VHF at 1800 or 1900 hrs. I forget.

These TG's need to be updated in the Wiki "All Talk group" and "unidentified Talkgroup" pages.
TG 1651 Smithfield PD
TG 1939 Glocester PD
See posts 13 and 21
Also Heard TG 194 today as "Lifespan-Hasbro". Talking about a traffic accident involving children.
