Has anyone noticed a change (reduction) in reception on the North Zone? I upgrade the firmware on my Whistler TRX-2 last week and even a few days before that I wasn't receiving the North Zone. I think that I've heard a TG on that about 4 times in the last week. I still hear the Prov. Zone intermittently which has been normal right along. I'm listening from Attleboro.

I would double check your setting [Attenuation, Antenna etc]
Make sure you have all the Control Channels for the North Zone

West Greenwich Police, TG 1805, and the Coventry Fire Dispatch simulcast, TG 1480, appear to have gone silent.

Skip, upgraded my firmware on my Uniden 996P2 and it didn’t help. Had to go back to the old firmware much better. Go figure!!!

The Coventry simulcast went silent on 01 Dec. They will use UHF as primary and RISCON 800 as needed basis. I have no info on WGPD.

In reference to RISCON, can anyone shed any light on sites 1.14 & 1.18?
DSD+ is reporting them as neighbor sites to site 1.2 (South zone).

From my monitoring, I would say that Site 14 is the North Zone. Site 18 is still a mystery as I have very few hits on it.

That is RI DOT, one unit clearly calling DOT Base (previous post asking about talkgroup 176)

An update on the Coventry FD and WGPD talkgroups:
The old Coventry Fire dispatch TG seems to be used for mutual aid communication with the surrounding towns and cities now. West Greenwich PD has not gone silent, it was an issue with my scanner.

Not sure on Middletown PD. But I did hear encryption traffic on TG 1339. :pint:

Anyone else receiving what sounds like hospital security on Southwide 1 and 2 (TG 1018 and 1019)?

Units are identified by car number.
Unit IDs of cars vary immensely - i have seen IDs in the 2000s, 7000s, and everywhere in between.
Dispatch is i33013

From my previous monitoring, I would think its probably the municipal police academy doing scenario training. Southwide 2 is used often in this capacity.

Thank you folks for this thread for helping us watch and monitor RISCON's development over the years. However, as it is pretty much a stable system now, with few changes, and such, this thread is now unstuck from the top of the forum, and closed. Any future posts about future changes, such as towns coming on, or site issues, etc., can be done in individual posts.

Also it is because of this thread, and your help, that the RISCON Wiki is what it is. A top notch resource to follow the primary radio system for public safety in Rhode Island.
