Complimentary Shuttle Service
Many members of the Fire Service, and others have volunteered and donated their time to assist the Phoenix Society and you.

The firefighters will provide shuttle service from the T.F. Green Airport (PVD), the Amtrak Station (PVD), and the Kennedy Plaza Bus Terminal (Intermodal), to the Omni Providence Hotel. After World Burn Congress has concluded, the firefighters will also shuttle you back. The uniformed firefighters will be easily recognizable by their uniform appearance and by signage.

RIPTA also uses Talkgroup 186, but their transmissions are encrypted on this channel. Verified by radio ids.

Just some notes I would like to share....Looks like unid TGID1348 STH Zone might be URI Campus Ops. This TG is very active during events. I noted mention of the field house during monitoring. Anybody have anything to add on this one? Also Im aware that Prov Zone TGID10256 is listed as a DPW talk group but it is almost entirely active with Spanish speaking traffic? Im no longer sure this is the Prov DPW unless they have a Spanish division.lol

This is Fun to listen to. There is police training on Southwide-2 TGID1019. A police officer was just assaulted by a man in a gorilla suite. She was struck by a balloon when she tried to approach the vehicle and is now engaged in a high speed pursuit. lol

I think that Warwick Police are using Talkgroup 1218. In the past, when they respond to calls on Wide Area 2, ids numbers began with 27xx. I heard of a ham group helped Warwick Police a few years ago, tracking down interference on their frequency. They said that they used encrypted 800 portables provided by the police department. I've noticed 27xx ids showing up on that talkgroup.

I'm clearly going to have to update my ARC536 files with the new channels. It seems like encryption is hit or miss some department do, some don't.

Also, for anyone who has an x36HP scanner, I changed the band default for the 800 Mhz public safety band to FM from NFM. Audio quality seemed better. Actually, I did when I was in CT listening to CSP on their system. It improved their audio quality quite a bit, including some times when the scanner was locked on a talk group, but there was no audio. In some cases, the scanner showed LNK, but in others it showed nothing, but there was no audio.

Audio was better for RISCON as well.

The Meetings for Interoperable Communications Committee, some info on the RISCON system. The state of Rhode Island has a monthly meeting on the operation of the RISCON system.,

Anybody have any idea who is using TGID10012 on the Prov zone? Lots of activity. Unit numbers are 300's. Sounds like some kind of transport or security company.

Providence PD Channel 12. All of the 100xx series are assigned to the Providence Police. What they use it for, is anyone's guess.

Thanks Mike. Thats what I thought but after monitoring the past couple of days the calls appear to be related to a school or University in Providence. I'm gonna have to sit on this one for a bit to nail it down.

That is Johnson and Wales security. I happened to be by one of their security officers and picked the same guy up on Talkgroup 10012
