I am picking up unreadable voice garble on TG 13072. Anyone with better reception picking up on this?

This is coming over on the analog system. I get short bursts of 2 people talking to each other saying things like "White Subaru SUV". "10-4", and "Blue Subaru Forester". "10-4". Maybe a police detail?

Sting ops or detectives often use Channel 3 for that sort of traffic

My other thought was traffic flagging. They just started that mess on State St.

Ahh missed that in your original post, I would say you're probably right because it's not listed on RR. Odd that the city would do their own flagging on a job of that size.

I sense there is some antenna work going on around town. My reception is not good in the past five days. Not sure if it is Dorler on Riverside or Maine Med towers.

I have gone through everything to figure it out. My next step is to bring in my 800 MHz Larsen and try that.

Wouldn't suprise me with the upgrade going on but I would think they would be done with that stuff by now. I haven't noticed any reception issues but from my house in Cape I can pick it up with no antenna so I may not be the best gauge.

Now that I have my reception issues straightened out, I can verify that TG 13072 is being used for traffic flagging purposes.

BTW, I have not noticed any difference in signal here in Windham. That's a pretty big road project going on in Portland. Not surprising that it might be too much of a distance for "blister pack" radios to handle.

I was having poor reception, and antenna failure was the reason. I would hardly call the HP2 a "blister pack" radio.

I was actually referring to the flaggers having to use the trunking system due to the distance between them, not your radio. Sorry for the confusion.

Traffic being picked up on TG 1655 (fire department dispatch use) TG 5232 and TG 13264 (broken voice, unknown use).

TG 2128 is being used for school department bus dispatch use.

Just wanted to confirm this is on the new P25 system or the old system? Reading back through the posts, I got confused how far along the new system is, and the Wiki only shows one frequency for the P25.

Thanks,
John

The past few posts have been about the old system, as far as I can tell. Talkgroup 1655 seems like an odd number for a Type II system. Dispatch is on 1648 as far as I know.

Just picked up a BOLO on TG 12887.

TGID's that have had traffic in the past few days: 55, 2128, 1655, 5232, 9680, 12887 & 13264. Some are PD (55, 1655, 13264) FD (5232, 12887) City ops (9680) and school bus (2128)

Sounds/looks like it is patched.
1655 = 067h

Hex TG's should end in 0h

1655
-1648
=7

7th Status Bit is
Multi-select (initiated by dispatcher)

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.ph ... I_Smartnet
Some of the older Scanners can not handle/translate the Status Bit and shows the NEW TG vs what the Actual TG is.

12887 is also a Multi-Select, the actual TG is 12880

Except it was Portland PD looking for someone that could have been near the Oxford Street shelter and had nothing to do with South Portland.

My bad, the 12887 should be under PD, not FD.

12880 has been South Portland PD since they joined the Analog TRS
And since this was a Multi-Select at the Dispatch Console, likely the Dispatcher wanted both Departments to be aware of the issue.
