NEAR-Fest X Friday Oct 14th and Saturday Oct 15th http://www.near-fest.com

Deerfield Fairgrounds - Deerfield NH, USA

This is less than two weeks away so who is going???.... I know our fearless leader is throwing a hissy fit and not going because the weekend was moved without his input. But hopefully most of you can make it and we can tell him all the deals he missed. Now every year I mention that everyone should add the Epson W1ASS UHF repeater of 443.850R 88.5/CS for the drive up. I suggest this every year and I'm always amazed at how many folks go out of range on Waltham or Westborough and have nothing else till they get on the fairgrounds because they failed to do so. This repeater has mobile coverage almost right down to Boston and portable coverage on the fairgrounds.

For the folks with a car full of radios like myself the long list is below.
For portables on site:
The majority of folks hang on the WA1NVC portable repeater 927.5875R 100.0/131.8 HearClear
The rest are simplex on 446.200S 131.8. A few really cool kids use P25 on 448.775S Nac353
If you follow those few suggestions you will have guaranteed fun at NEAR-FEST!

I will be at the site by 7am on Friday in transit before that.... Hanging at the PRA-GEMOTO Tent

On Friday night I will be once again taking advantage of the NearFest room deal at the Super8 motel in Bedford http://near-fest.com/index.php?topic=574.0
On friday evening some of us will all be at Charbel's at the bar in the parking lot infront of the Super 8. Last year N1JFU, KB1FQJ, AB1IC, KB1SMN, and in past years even KC1UA all joined us at the bar. This year hopefully we can get KC1HO to come too!

I'll be there both Friday and Saturday and I was curious who else is coming up and which days. For the first time ever I will not be staying in NH and will be commuting both days as I have to return Friday to see Pete Townsend at Berklee.

Wow I'm surprised we have only one member going.... In the past it's been a who's-who of Scan New England! Weather actually looks pretty good in WMUR's long range forecast. http://www.wmur.com/weather/five-day

I would love to go also. However my non related radio purchase has caused me to work OT Saturday to pay for said purchase.

I'll be there Friday.

I attended this workshop last time and I would recommend it to anyone interested in backup power in the home. Although he focuses on generators, much of the electrical and wiring discussion could apply to solar or other backup power as well.
