ESPN - SPECIAL EVENT THIS FRIDAY, September 28, 2012

Post by Scottb908 »

WE1SPN will be operating a special event station in conjunction with ESPN's "Safety & Awareness" day. We will be demonstrating our club's ability to operate in an emergency communications mode by making as many contacts as possible in this two hour window. We will be on or around 7.195, 14.305 or 21.355 at 1100 - 1300 EDT or 1500 - 1700 Z on sideband. We will most likely be QRP with a 10 watt Elecraft KX3, but we may also press our Icom 7000 into service. Antenna will be a Buddipole. Power will be from battery, and we'll be outside at the fair in our own tent with full audio for passersby. Please feel free to QSL, we will upload to LoTW after the event, but we'll also reply to paper QSLs if you include a business size SASE (US/Canada) or two green stamps with a business size SAE. Sorry, but we're a budgetless club and have no funds for postage.

What part of "ESPN's "Safety & Awareness" day" did you miss? Not to mention the OP is in Bristol, CT...which is the home of ESPN.

This is taking place in the center of our broadcast facility. Our campus houses most of our tv/radio/Internet services as well as corporate operations. Espn prides themselves about being prepared for emergency and has set up 2 operation center for emcomm. This even is just a show case of the different organization that we work with.

ESPN Worldwide Amateur Radio Club

Also a quick check of the FCC would answer the Club Call or Not

The issue and the point are this...quite frankly the person that asked the question just about never does any searching for himself, despite the fact that the information is easily found. It's ok to ask questions here but someone that touts himself as an "experienced" hobbyist should be able to search first. This has happened countless times, and it's a head scratcher and frustrating.

So with that, this is indeed "locked up".
