NEAR-Fest XXI May 5 & 6, 2017 NEAR-Fest is NOT Optional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who is going to NEAR-Fest XXI Friday and Saturday, May 5 & 6, 2017 at the Deerfield Fairgrounds???

As I always remind people who say that can't go.... NEAR-Fest is not optional!!

Anyways...
NEAR-Fest XXI http://near-fest.com is Friday and Saturday.

Below is this year's official frequency list.

The W1ASS Epsom NH repeater 443.850. Its 88.5 both in and out. It's mixed mode P25 with a NAC of 353 This is a fantastic repeater that reaches way down into Massachusetts and is full quieting portable on the fairgrounds. John, I took the liberty of promoting this to an article so it appears on the front page of this website as well. As for me I'm a "maybe" and then it would be Saturday as I'm out of leave time for the fiscal year. We shall see...thanks as always for posting.

Did plans change, I didn't think you were going to be able to make it this time? I should be there both days as usual.

No I was just keeping it on the down low on the boards as it isn't optional and I will be flogged.

I see some 220 repeaters in the area. Does anyone know if it will cover the fairgrounds decently? Like to give the 220 side of my radio a workout.

Friday: Showers early but some saying 10am, becoming a steady rain later in the day. High 52F. Winds E at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall possibly over one inch. Bring your slicker and have fun!!!

Saturday: Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. High around 70F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%. This means it could be okay Saturday??

Looks like the attendance was down. We had some dry hours between 9:30 and 1:30 when the sky opened up again. Like I said when I had to duck under the covering when it opened up again: "NEAR-Fest is not an option!" A damper to the day was the gentleman that collapsed and had to be transported out by rescue. Hopefully, he is ok.
I was able to find that the Pittsfield, NH 224.540 N1AKE PL 103.5 does cover the fairgrounds. so an option for those that have 220 radios.
Looking forward to October!

Attendance was down, but honestly, not as much as I feared it might be with how bad the forecast was. I was there for the duration of the event, and had a great time as always. Sure, I got a little wet, but nothing we haven't seen before. NEARFest was not optional!
