Shrewsbury Police New Frequencies?

#1 Post by mjd553 » 24 Feb 2013 18:29

On Glenn Mitchell's weekly FCC License Grants for Massachusetts http://home.comcast.net/~gmitch86/grants_ma.htm it appears that Shrewsbury is adding at the very least a new repeater pair with 151.25 being the output and two new mobile frequencies. Are they adding a second channel or is this a voting receiver setup similar to other area towns?

I don't know why they would need a secondary channel or switch main channels.

You used to be able to hear Johnston RI police on 155.700 at times in shrewsbury with no pl running. However. Johnston RI Police have move to the RISCON trunked system as far as I know.

I do know last year they put a bid out for programming of radios for narrowbanding but they retracted it saying they were going to do it inhouse. So this is kind of intresting.

Shrewsbury Police are currently using 151.250 R Pl 114.8 "F-2" for a Traffic Detail.

Haven't heard anything but morse code ID for a year on this frequency (ran with no PL tone to confirm it still existed).

My only guess is that maybe at one point there was ongoing interference on 155.700 from Johnston RI police who have long switched to the RI states 800 P25 Trunked system RISCON. Possibly they wanted to make 151.250 a primary back then.

I will submit this to the database.
