Unknown NXDN Frequencies
Unknown NXDN Frequencies
WQOF498 (Quimby, William P)
471.49375
471.53125
483.76875
The designators on these frequencies claim that they are nextedge. Has anyone heard any traffic on these frequencies? I don’t have a scanner that can pick up nextedge so I can not hear any traffic on them.

Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
I plugged them into my scanner out here in Lowell and ran LCN Finder for about an hour with no hits. That said, it's entirely possible this is not a trunked system, or that it's not strong enough to show up for me.
Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
These are licensed to Quimby on Baldpate Hill. My guess is that it will be part of a NXDN trunk system to replace or add to the existing LTR systems that are run under the Dispatch Communication/Metro Repeater name.
Maybe they will be conventional, but I'd be more willing to bet that it's going to be trunked.
As you now, Baldpate has good coverage through most of the eastern MA, southern NH, even into southern ME. I can sometimes receive it down south of Boston in the shadow of Big Blue.

Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
I'm in a bit of a valley with a big hill between me and Baldpate, so some Georgetown stuff comes in fairly weak for me. The stuff near the top of the tower putting out several hundred Watts comes in a little scratchy but readable on analog. I assume this would end up on the same antenna as the other County Comms stuff up there, but I just want to make sure no one's taking my lack of signal as definitive proof that something's not on the air.
Quimby is County Comms, isn't it? And Unkles is Metro/Dispatch? County already has an active system up there I started listening to yesterday, but perhaps they're expanding it.

Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
I always reverse those two. You're right, Quimby is County Communications. There's even a website for the company.
Yes, there is an active County Communications NXDN site on Baldpate. Occasionally, I can copy that one down here, but I get better copy north of Boston.

Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
FWIW, there is an NXDN control channel being transmitted from Mt Agamenticus in York, Me. on 452.4125. I don't have the ability to monitor NXDN trunking, so I don't know any details about this freq (or even which system is belongs to, it isn't licensed), but I thought I would point it out.
Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
Interesting! That must be the Maine entry on http://www.countycomm.net/NexedgeCoverageMap.html -- looks like there may be a Boston site as well? I suspect I'm too far away to get a reliable signal from Agamenticus, though I was up there a few years ago and coverage was pretty swell.schwab wrote: ↑04 Dec 2018 12:27FWIW, there is an NXDN control channel being transmitted from Mt Agamenticus in York, Me. on 452.4125. I wondered if the 6.25 kHz spacing may have led to the frequency being slightly off from .4125, but I see only one license between 452.4 and 452.425 with a location (geosearch) anywhere in Maine, and it's WQNW724 simplex at a campground in Saco.
Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
452.4125 was licensed to County as WQEX639, but it expired in 2016.
Re: Unknown NXDN Frequencies
Oh, interesting -- the wiki lists that on their old LTR page: http://scan-ne.net/wiki/index.php?title ... requencies
