Callsign "WARRIOR"

#1 Post by 14COMM9 » 14 Mar 2019 11:12

Recently I have started listening to aviation and Milcom for the area. Earlier today I heard a call sign WARRIOR (missed the number portion) talking to Hanscom Tower requesting ILS with a full stop. I haven't been able to find this ID. Anyone know what this was?

Thanks

Most likely it is a Piper Warrior. When talking with ATC General aviation aircraft are allowed to drop the N and say either Piper (Tailnumber) Or use Model (Tailnumber). For example "Piper 237" Or " Warrior 237". In the initial call the prefix November has to be used but after that November can be dropped.
