HINGHAM — Ten different local and state-wide law enforcement groups will be at Wompatuck State Park on Thursday, March 21, to take part in an exercise that will test communications technology.
The exercise will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will involve a large police presence in the park.
Agencies will include the South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, Plymouth County Sheriff's Department and Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team along with several state agencies and police from Barnstable County, Cape Cod.
The training will involve a simulation of a large-scale, multi-agency search and rescue mission. The goal is to assess the functionality of the agencies' communications technology and to determine the compatibility of communications technology between agencies, to ensure operations go smoothly in the event of an actual large-scale emergency.
