RISCON Zones and range

#1 Post by finncrj » 21 Oct 2019 18:53

Just wondering how far south folks can receive the north zone using a yagi? I’m in Middletown and have a 30’ mast. Was wondering if it would be worth it the put a yagi up on it maybe with a pre amp to get north zone .

I would expect from Middletown, you'd be able to get it. I know there is a North Zone site on the Water Tank at Kent Heights in East Providence, that is probably almost LOS to Middletown.

I live in Taunton, 15-20 miles east of the state and can get the North Zone here.

I can get the South Zone very clearly on a stock antenna from my house in Attleboro. I would think that the same would go for listening in the other direction, as the system specs are pretty uniform.

The north zone has less output and rage as the south . I still haven’t caught up with anyone from Aquidneck island who can get the north zone as well. I have the yagi up on the mast now I ha e to run cable . Was hoping someone fro this area would chime in to easily show it’s doable even with a preamp.

I can get RISCON in Walpole with a 9dB yagi at 15' elevation. No to very-low BER.
