Re: Railroad / Train info

Hello,

The 900 MHz frequencies are used for the Amtrak ACSES II System. The 216 to 222 MHz frequencies are used for Positive Train Control (PTC). They both are digital data transmissions. From what I understand Amtrak is moving from 900 to 220.

Recent Lynn PD 'A' designations

Hello, I noticed for the past couple of weeks that Lynn Police is using an 'A' or 'Alpha' designation after some of the car numbers, like 'Car 9A' or 'Car 9 Alpha'. Sometimes they will dispatch both Car 9 and Car 9A to the same call. I suspect they split up the two officer cars due to COVID consider...

Re: Vanishing Ambulance Services

Hello, On 471.9375 I noticed a CW ID of WPMZ586. Since the CW ID is sent without PL, I can not tie it to a user, but it seems about the same strength as Action Ambulance (CTCSS:123.0). CW ID occurs about every 1/2 hour. I found something interesting when I searched on the call sign. It is an applica...

Re: To Be Identified DMR

Hello,

Hopefully I will have time to listen since I can pickup the JetBlue Tier III System.

One thing I noticed is the voice transmissions on their system (at least) look like conventional DMR. So different than Cap+ and Con+.

Re: Vanishing Ambulance Services

Hello, I went up to the licensed site in Salem. I did not hear anything on my AOR AR-8200 with no antenna. The signal was not overwhelming on my Icom IC-R30 with an antenna. I would say that it is somewhere else north of Boston. Maybe in the Stoneham/Wilmington area? Looks like more searching over t...

Re: Vanishing Ambulance Services

Hello, I listened some more and it seems like mostly the same units. It sounded like there is a shift change around 3 PM. It also sounds like their base of operations is Wilmington. It appeared like Medic 31 was ALS for Wilmington. Medic 34 was sent to Winthrop and Action has ALS for Winthrop. There...

Re: Vanishing Ambulance Services

Hello, I listened to the recordings I made overnight. I heard Paramedic 25, 31, 65, Action 180 (BLS), 182, 225 referred to as Stoneham Main 2 and later reported "cancelled by fire", S3, S4. I suspect this is Action Ambulance in Willington as Action 180 mentioned "clear and almost back to Wilmington....

Re: Vanishing Ambulance Services

Hello, I plugged 471.9375 PL127.0 into my Icom R-8600 with a discone and got transmissions within minutes. Definitely a repeater (slightly high in frequency). I suspect the license is WIL761 Dispatch Communications in Salem, MA. The control point is listed as Morningside Dr, Beverly, MA. There is: N...

Re: Atlantic Ambulance Close Call hit

Hello, Given that input frequencies and tones are not allowed. you can still figure it out via the FCC License and some additional monitoring. The tone is useless as the input tone can be totally different than the output tone. You are looking for a repeater so they tend to show up on the FCC licens...

Hello,

Epstein Center for Behavioral Health is at Salem MA hospital. Epstein 4 would be the fourth floor. The hospital is interesting as it is on a hill and uses a common floor numbering across buildings. Some buildings do not have floor 1 and 2.

Nantucket P25 800 Trunked

Hello, I was on the island yesterday for the first time and briefly listened to the Nantucket P25 800 Trunked system. I noticed the Wiki has a different NAC listed. The system is P2 capable as it has both FDMA and TDMA in the frequency mapping for both 700 MHz and 800 MHz. P25 BEE00-3A6 NAC 3A0 Site...

Hello,

Enjoyed NEAR-Fest on Friday and even found something to buy.

Weather conditions were a lot better at NEAR-Fest compared to down south. Ski Areas suffer from the same problem. They can have plenty of snow, but people do not think about skiing unless there is snow down south.

Hello, Conventional DMR uses 24 bits for talkgroups and radio ids, so 16777215 is valid for a talkgroup. The radio id does not have to be 16777215. Connect Plus has the same limits. Motorola Capacity Plus uses 255 as the all-call talkgroup because Motorola reduced down the range of valid talkgroups ...
