Re: ADS-B

There was a new ADS-B requirement on Jan 1, 2020. Pretty much everything but fighters are running it now, although I have seen A-10s and T38 trainers out in the Central US. If you go to https://tar1090.adsbexchange.com/ and select "U" at the top of the map, you'll see a LOT of military aircraft. Mos...

Walpole, MA DMR

My DMR repeater is now online, covering Walpole, MA and surrounding communities. It provides excellent portable coverage at Gillette Stadium and Patriot Place. Signal reports, especially from 95 and 495S are greatly greatly appreciated. W1JFR Walpole, MA Repeater NESMC Coordinated Frequency: 145.380...

Another DV4 Mini owner here. Working every mode except P25. Oddly, I find the Fusion to work and sound the best. D* is D*, the DMR has an issue with a really noisy squelch tail (for lack of a better term). Plus, far-end GPS coordiates and distance are passed thru for display on the Yaesu FTM-400. -JR

Cool.

Interested in your thoughts on the TYT-380 as it compares to the the CS751. It looks flashier but I think I trust Jerry more than TYT.
Key it up anyways to piss off the PAVE PAWS kiddos!

New Fusion repeater in Walpole, MA

Hi Folks, I swapped one of the Walpole UHF repeaters over to a Yaesu System Fusion rig. It's running full AMS (analog in/analog out, Fusion in/Fusion out). Give it a shout if you've got a Fusion radio ($280 gets you a portable). Not much traffic on it, so message me here if you want to test. We've g...

Hey Scott,
Had the radio on in the background and heard you talking with Bill. What radio did you end up getting? Was that just 5W into his Eastham machine?

Another DMR user here. I've actually had a repeater ready to go here in Walpole since last year but can't get a 2M freq coordination. It's just sitting in my shed at 1 watt. I have a Hytera PD762 and CS 701. Once I get the repeater online, you might be able to hit it with a 50W and an external anten...

I'd like to emphasize what Gary said about affiliation. It's how you most often hear weird things show up in your Zone. If an D-Troop (Zone 4) radio is present up in Zone 5 for a detail at Gillette or something, then you will hear that D-Troop TG on the here on Zone 5 while he is here. Note: Not sur...

To your point, Scott, I had no interest in getting my ham ticket until I discovered DMR late last year. I received my license at the end of Jan and now have DMR and D-STAR (given to me for free) radios to play with.

DMR user here. Home QTH is a little outside of the coverage of the 2 Mass DMR repeaters for me without an external antenna. We're hoping to put one up in Walpole next year. 440, though. I have heard you up on Local and North America TGs and I checked in to the Tech Net last night.

State of the Hobby- 2014 Digital Ham

Hi Folks, As we head into 2014, where does the hobby (digitally, in New England and Massachusetts) stand? I remember reading about the GEMOTO project here a few years ago. But it doesn't seem like P25 repeaters have really spread. Although to be fair, I did hear someone testing on the Waltham P25 ma...

There is a plugin for SDR# that will let Unitrunker control SDR#. I haven't tried it, but it sounds cool.

I've been using the inverted (-xr) from the start. So, do you hear just voice being decoded, or do you hear a digital bitstream too?

And you can normally monitor other TRBO channels? Maybe ICE's is using that privacy feature and this is not a good channel that I should be testing with?

Hello, Turn off "listen to this device" -> speakers. This routes the digital data input that dsd is decoding to the speakers. 73 Eric Then I don't hear anything when DSD decodes. I see the stream roll up, but no audio if I do that. Correction: DSD doesn't decode anything if I do that. It just sits ...
