Looks like it left Wallops Flight Facility in VA and is on the way back to that area.

Re: SDS200

It does help, thanks. I would try to put the preamp at the antenna but the concern there is the power connection as you describe it. It's unfortunate that it can't be powered over the coax with a power injector. The filters in the SDS series are interesting to say the least. There was a list somewhe...

Re: SDS200

Chuck, is that amp mounted at the antenna? Curious as to whether or not you experience any overload with it. I am trying to improve my 800 MHz reception and have a spare sidearm on my tower that would support a light rotor and antenna. I think my issue by and large is height above average terrain. R...

159.345 DMR CC04

Getting a few DMR hits on this frequency. Signal is semi-weak from my location on Cape Cod. CC04 and high group and radio number on the one transmission I've seen, group 16777215, radio 16000003. Observed some traffic late last night and again at 10:20 AM. Unfortunately I did not have "per call...

Hi,

Where are you located? That might help narrow things down a bit and provide a file specific to your region.

Actually I was using the SDR# DSD Plug in. Now that I'm actually running DSD+ itself with the 1 receiver Airspy setup I am seeing:

Re: 151.8425 DMR-TIII CC05

I'm using DSD+ and it's not quite "catching" yet to display data, but if it does before the Winter Classic starts I'll follow up. I think that's what it is though as I do usually receive that system here to some extent.

Re: Front End Overload or RF?

If after trying all the free or cheap options, you still have problems, you can try a FM BCB notch filter (blocks FM broadcast band) and/or a NOAA WX notch filter (blocks 162.xxxx WX freqs). It made an enormous difference on my reception. chris +1 on that. Put it right before the input to the multi...

Re: Front End Overload or RF?

Check any ethernet cables, routers, switches, etc. Could even be one of those little power cubes to power the aforementioned router/switch. Oh, and that's another thing! I had a 24 port TP-Link Gigabit switch that I discovered to be a terrible generator of random RFI. I replaced it with an 8 port N...

Thanks to the heat wave, signals appear to be coming up nicely on VHF-HI as I type this. Nothing spectacular but everything is stronger than usual and Southold NY (Long Island) on 154.845 156.7 is very strong as well. Might be an interesting evening for some spins around the bands.

Re: Front End Overload or RF?

Computer monitors, and the actual length of their HDMI cables, can be a nightmare as well. I eliminated one considerable issue by simply changing to a different length HDMI cable on one of mine. The snap-on ferrite chokes can be helpful as well but you usually need a lot of them to make a difference...

Re: Front End Overload or RF?

Is the static present when no antenna is connected? When you state "static" is it static like you hear on an AM radio? If so, does the static disappear after a rainstorm? In any event, have you considered the following: Have you tried a different power source for the multicoupler? Have you...

Re: DSD Fast Lane -- worthwhile?

The Airspy devices are head and shoulders above the RTL sticks. I have a total of four of them, two of the R2's and two of the Mini. I actually prefer the mini despite the fact that they have less bandwidth than the R2's do. I don't often go above 4 MHz of spectrum with any of them anyway as there a...

Re: DSD Fast Lane -- worthwhile?

If you can spend the $25 for a lifetime subscription to DSD+ Fast Lane releases I would strongly recommend doing so. It has a myriad of uses that are all positive. While I do find SDRTrunk to have superior audio recovery on digital signals DSD+ FL is an excellent all around tool for decoding such si...

Re: Multicoupler

Generally, splitters run like this: 2 way: 3.5db loss per port 3 way: 3.5db to 2 ports, 7db to the third 4 way: 7db loss per port So the math on the 8 way may or may not add up but I planned to try to as best possible balance the output so my setup acted at least similarly to that of the Stridsberg ...

Re: Multicoupler

Personally I never had any issues with the Electroline at all but I've always used the "02" models that just overcome the signal loss of splitting a signal 4 or 8 ways. I'll let you know what I think of this setup once I have all of the actual components in place. The Stridsbergs do work g...

Re: Multicoupler

If I can try to help clear up some confusion don't hesitate to ask. I just lashed the newly arrived preamp up and it is working very nicely. I need to clean up the install and maybe add a few ferrite chokes (another story around here entirely) but for a temporary setup I'm cautiously optimistic that...
