UHF seems to be open to the north. Boston PD and many Norfolk and Middlesex County stations on 470-473 strong here. Interestingly not much to hear on VHF-HI.

Scott,
This could help!!

https://centerfireantenna.com/parts-and ... plane-kit/
No experience with them but the old Mon 58's used to have an optional ground plane kit. They were quite good base antennas when used with one. Might help!

Re: set up

Murphy, Give this a try. https://www.theantennafarm.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1289_1243&products_id=7530 This is a good idea but will only work with the Larsen antenna, assuming it is NMO, and it will also require a male N to female "something" and some other coax. Murph, i...

Re: set up

Any of them. It's going to come down to the antennas more than anything else. I'm not saying that a better ground plane under the antennas is going to put you over the top, but it ain't gonna hurt either. On another note entirely, maybe @ecps92 will chime in...as I recall he has an indoor beam that ...

Not sure how well that's going to work. Have you tried them on top of a fridge? Or do you have an AC hanging out a window that you can put them on?

I've heard them a few times after my initial post. Their moms would have made them wash their mouths out with soap...unless of course they taught them the words...

Re: set up

Hi Mike, The Diamond antenna you speak of seems to be a mag mount, and the Larson has a NMO fitting as I recall; is it on a mag mount? And, if so are either/both on something magnetic? Unless the antenna is a 1/2 wave, which I don't believe either are, they do require some sort of ground plane for o...

Fishermen Using NXDN

I sat on this one for a few to confirm it was actually occurring. 159.810 RAN1 9600 baud NXDN and it is almost certainly fishermen...replete with harsh language, some guy ranting about one of his employees, etc. If you're in the Cape area and have the capability, have a listen...apparently no mode i...

Re: List of encrypted agencies

And as I mentioned at the post in RR, the license indicates they are authorized for P25 use. It could be as simple as they were testing it, and the person that heard it was in the right place at the right time.

....or "the airport formerly known as Barnstable Municipal Airport". Could make for some interesting monitoring on 9/28.

There's also a Route 35 in Danvers and Peabody, next to Middleton, could be a mispronunciation.

Re: 158.145 DMR CC1

I set DSD+ to do individual audio recordings of each transmission. I am hearing numerous references to "Middletown"....but they don't sound like they have that RI accent. Also heard someone refer to "Route 35" but I don't think it was a road from the context. This made me think maybe a bus company b...

Re: 158.145 DMR CC1

There sure does. I'm guessing it's to the north given the band openings in that direction for the last few days. It's fading in and out now and if DSD+ is decoding even half-correctly it appears to be mostly data. Last hit on the TG was at 1056 but no voice was recovered.

158.145 DMR CC1

Not part of a trunked system according to DSD+ anyway. Showing TG 2 on Slot 1, as well as "Radio Check; Tgt=182 Src=2502. 2502 was the same radio observed on TG 2. Tried our Wiki and US and Canadian Databases at RR. Nada. I see this is used in various places in NE for "Commercial Utilities". Wonder ...

There has been an opening to the north from Cape Cod for most of the day. MSCommNet is strong here now, I have it programmed as the Ossipee Mountain site but I may need to update my programming. Haven't looked in the world famous Wiki yet. P25 from NH is in as well, Goffstown PD at 155.190 $827. Map...

Re: 463.475 CSQ (maybe?)

463.475 is an analog simulcast of the talkgroup they have on 178-1. So it is not part of that NXDN system, it's something else entirely.

Re: 463.475 CSQ (maybe?)

I've confirmed this to be Yarmouth Department of Natural Resources. More traffic this morning on the frequency, and it dawned on me that Yarmouth DNR is on Network 178 Site 1, which is a NXDN system. Fired that system up with DSD+ and immediately heard the same traffic.

Mystery solved...

Re: 463.475 CSQ (maybe?)

As to the DNR comment, that crossed my mind but the context of the short amount of comms I heard wasn't of that nature. As to the RDC comment, that crossed my mind too, and is probably the answer.
