As I recall that's been the way this system is for a while. Incomplete with very little activity.

470.375 NXDN9600 RAN1 appears to be Cape Ann Transit Authority. Very strong here.
470.8625 151.4 NYPD Citywide 3 is exceptionally strong as I type this.

476 is up and down, monitoring the CC of Network 171 Site 3 Con+ DMR. CC currently is 477.8875. Per RR this is "Selden" in Suffolk County NY. Went below the noise level as I am typing this.

Increasing amount of NYPD activity here on 470 and 476 MHz. Sector Long Island Sound on 157.100 sounds better than Sector SE New England.

Nantucket Municipal Trunk Change/Addition

While searching earlier today I noticed that 859.4875 was now being used by the Nantucket system. As I watch it with DSD+ it appears to be the primary voice frequency today. Not sure when this change/addition was implemented but I updated the Wiki and the RR database.

Re: Thoughts on live feeds for PDs?

There are many official police feeds at Radio Reference. There are also many unofficial dedicated police feeds there which again in my opinion is a very bad and irresponsible decision by the feed provider. Can the PD do anything about making them cease? I don't know, that's a tough one. CoMIRS is co...

Re: Thoughts on live feeds for PDs?

One opinion. NEVER provide a feed that is exclusive to one police department. Such a feed allows end-users to monitor EVERY transmission a department makes and can be used for nefarious purposes. Some departments choose to offer "official" feeds of their department's operation but that puts things s...

Well 2 is any number! :D

Our "world famous Wiki" appeared to show a lot of options, but I was DX'ing and falling asleep at the same time so I may have misinterpreted it.

Hopefully more openings to follow with this whacky less than great but sometimes okay weather.

Re: Counterpoise on Mini-discone Antenna?

I would think that certain lengths of what are probably unnecessary wires might make the situation worse, actually, and could serve to introduce other types of interference into the mix. That said, antenna experimentation is always fun if you have time to do so.

SDRTrunk Software

Hi, Has anyone else tried this software? I've recently started with it and I must say, despite being an "alpha" release, it does a superb job with Con+ DMR systems and with the Nantucket P25 system. Audio quality is excellent. A little quirky to set up but once done it works great. Just curious if I...

To expand on the above message, 155.7225 was referred to as "Bravo Two Fire Tac" just a short time ago. Units were told to switch to it for a fire.

Re: Receiving MA Agencies in NH?

Due to conditions that occur from time to time, especially with weather pattern changes, you may get fooled into thinking you can hear great distances depending on when you try your search. This is fun though and called a "band opening" or "tropospheric ducting" (or inappropriately referred to as "s...

155.895 lit up briefly this morning just as I got my 436HP set up, but I didn't get the gist of the conversation and haven't heard any traffic since. I'm monitoring it with my Bluetail Technologies P25RX and I'll report back with any additional info.

P25 activity on 155.7225 tonight. Unless I'm mistaken the only activity I've heard here prior is testing. Heard some "Bravo" units which is interesting. NAC of 229 as before during testing. Monitoring further.

Re: Dukes County (MV) New Radio System (Was 156.2175 Part II)

The entirety of this post is by and large speculative. It seems periodically there is a combination of PD/FD/EMS on all of these frequencies. I would guess that 156.2175 is primarily law enforcement dispatch. I have not been able to monitor 155.4375, 155.7225, 155.925, 151.4875 enough to determine t...

Warship 58

Hearing "Warship 58" on Marine CH16 (156.800) broadcasting "high risk exercises harmful to shipping" in vicinity of 40N, 71W (those are general coordinates, they provided more in-depth ones during the broadcast).

That puts them roughly about 80 miles south of Westport, MA.

Re: Wal*Mart transitioning away from conventional radios

They are however giving the old radios to their customers, who in turn will use them to coordinate brawls over items in short supply, in various parts of the store. A 5 minute warning will be broadcast to all units with the hopes of maximizing spectator attendance.

Re: Dukes County (MV) New Radio System (Was 156.2175 Part II)

Still need to puzzle out the actual layout of things. The paging receivers are according to the license not listed on this frequency. I hadn't heard any transmissions on this one until today. 155.7225 was the one that was testing the other day. 156.2175 already seems established for police operation...
