Boston city PD & FD freqs?

Hello, I live in Cranston RI. From my location I can hear Boston fire the main dispatch on 483.1625 and it comes in about 2 - 3 "bars" signal on my BCT15X scanner. Antenna is Omni X up about 20'. Also I hear the automated dispatch "alert" on 453.6500. Have not heard any other Fire freqs except for t...

re: "Rhode Island State Energy Center"

Hi, Not sure if you already might have this one on record, but I think it is a frequency for the "Rhode Island State Energy Center" on 452.225 CTCSS 67.0 located in Johnston RI. Getting transmissions full scale guys talking about valves, filters, pressure filters, etc. This is a GAS plant up near St...

Old Motorola speaker & X50 ham antenna

I lucked out today. I was down at my kids house cleaning basement and found a nice old Motorola speaker! It needs a plug on the end of wire which I can fix. Also found my 30 year old Diamond X 50 vertical ham antenna! One of the first antennas I bought when I was newly licensed. Give or take a coupl...

Re: UHF MilAir Freqs used in RI available?

Thanks, they could be, or they might just be used for events. Sadly my last trip down there was a long ago air show, likely just nothing reported. Also tough getting folks to SEARCH and Report/Share - anything found is appreciated Too bad the internet and scan-ne wasn't around in 1987!!!! I used to...

Re: Any RECENT SDS200 opinions?

I agree with Deacon. I've had zero problems with my SDS200 other than the hum. Even at that, the hum was mostly fixed with the firmware update and I had the hardware piece for months before I got around to installing it. BTW, Deacon, thanks for mentioning the firmware update. The hum returned a few...

Re: UHF MilAir Freqs used in RI available?

The freqs in the list attached. Not the AIR FREQS Just the VHF-high freqs. Back in the early 90's I worked right at Quonset and used to monitor all these freqs along with some other local ones. Only a handful of these were being used then. The security post at the main gate at the ANG base changed f...

Re: UHF MilAir Freqs used in RI available?

The "RI Air National Guard - Quonset State Airport" section of vhf frequencies is mostly very old. I used to listen to a handful of them way back in the early 90's when I worked for Port Authority at Quonset Point. I remember just a few years after I left that job, most of those frequencies became s...

Any RECENT SDS200 opinions?

I keep putting off buying one of these scanners due to the many complaints of hum/display issues. I tend to feel if a scanner is that expensive, it should WORK outta the BOX! Much time has gone by for the manufacturer to WORK OUT & FIX these issues. Luckily for now my simulcast issues are "bearable"...

UHF MilAir Freqs used in RI available?

Looking for some Mil Air UHF (am) freqs. I live near airport, and there is military traffic, especially at Quonset, and sometimes at Greene. But can't find anything specific.

Re: MCA104M coupler opinions???

RISKAN20, I have a similar Stridsberg multi-coupler, the MCA204M. Its allows for attaching four units to it also. The coupler has a range of 25mhz to 1GHZ. I find it pulls is a lot of distant tx's. I am located in NRI and have no problem pulling in Boston area, Bristol Cnty MA, some of the eastern ...

MCA104M coupler opinions???

https://i.postimg.cc/j5fK4Fpv/mca104m.jpg I was looking at some possible way to run ONE antenna to 2 or 3 scanners. I first thought of duplexer/triplexer. But then I found this "coupler" made by "Stridsberg" http://www.stridsbergeng.com/multicouplers.html and wondering if anybody can offer an opini...

Re: The Shack is Back - Late 2019 Edition

Thats quite the set up! 3 monitors? I'd like to have 2 myself but computer only has port for 1 monitor. Nice selection of radios. I also have the bcd996p2 and bct15x and am thinking about getting sds200 this summer. What do you listen to on each scanner? I use my 996p2 strictly for P25 simulcast and...

Any interesting MARINE freqs to hear?

Re: AAA Northeast

From my friend, AAA business is way down. Less traffic, fewer service calls. They've laid off dispatchers and drivers as well as travel office staff. Police are stopping fewer cars, there are fewer accidents, so everyone's business is down. Since plate expirations and inspections have been pushed b...

mow copy.jpg Image ©Google I would like to know what types of railroad activity goes on in the Providence area. I have a few vhf frequencies programmed, and mostly hear the Amtrak dispatcher. OK Thank you. I found there are 2 lowband for (National Guard) repeaters so I programmed them in and maybe I will hear something. I thought I was hearing out of state comms from the navy. I just left the scan mode in "search" cause there is a bit of action going on. As far as the old VHF frequencies...

The Guard is right up the road from me at CCRI college doing testing so if they are using radios I will be able to hear them. Plus that college is loc...
