The two biggest things if you're not familiar with it right out of the box to get to know very well with operating the scanner. 1) Understanding scan lists and turning them on and off 2) Understanding "service types" and turning those on and off. The service types are the biggest gotchya that catche...

Re: Welcome to Scanning 101

Welcome to Scan New England. Yes, unfortunately your Bearcat 350A will not pick up the new WestComm digital trunk. You will need a new scanner for it. You will have to get a new scanner. To make your life easier, if you don't want to go through programming a new scanner, I will suggest either a Home...

TETRA

Tetra, while rarely used, is used in the US a little. Some of the other National Grid systems in the US use it. Tetra is very popular in Europe and Canada. Scott earlier mentioned this https://www.rtl-sdr.com/sdr-tetra-plugin-now-available-at-rtl-sdr-ru/ TETRA used to stand for Trans European Trunke...

How to ID/Show TGIDs on a DMR conventional channel on the x36 series

Yes, it is very possible to show a TGID on a programmed conventional channel on the x36 series scanner. No, you can't only monitor the single TG conventionally, you still need to program in as a SFT. What you need to do is default the channel name field. Go to Menu, Manage Favorites, Select your fav...

I'm familiar with it, as that has been Pittsfield, MA's PD frequency for ages too.

My Regency Z30 scanner couldn't receive it, because of the birdie.

When I got my first really good scanner, my Realistic PRO-2022, it was the first time I could hear them without it.
