Re: Base Antenna

Thanks. I've seen thos Tram antennas on Amazon and Ebay. I wondered if they were any good. I've always found the discone to be a reliable workhorse. I'm not so interested in low band stuff so I haven't used the type with the added-on whip. If you get one, go with the stainless steel Tram model that'...

You'd be surprised how "frugal" some cities and towns are when it comes to public safety.

Re: Base Antenna

As I recall, there was some discussion a few years ago on RadioReference about a higher rate of lightning strikes on discone antennas than other styles. It's a vague recollection which is why I'm asking. Maybe someone can confirm or deny that. I haven't looked on the Internet yet to see if there is ...

Re: Base Antenna

I only need low band for MSP, at least for the most part. I'll look at this antenna, but it's a bit more than I really want to spend.

I've been looking at the Hustler base discone DCX antenna. Seems like a decent option.

Re: Industrial Communications and Electronics MotoTrbo Systems

I've never seen Site 50 carry any sort of traffic. Which is why it seems to be a burn in site. It has no Neighbor List either. Maybe they are burning in two repeaters and have set them up to alternate as control channel. Once that's done, they'll move them out somewhere. Just a guess, though. Hello,...

Base Antenna

My Radio Shack version of the ST-2 broke during the spring. I was finally able to get up on the roof today to make a temporary fix, but it's still going to need replacement. I'm looking for some thoughts on a suitable replacement since the ST-2 and RS version are no longer available. Well, they are,...

Re: Industrial Communications and Electronics MotoTrbo Systems

Thank you. I don't know why, but I had a hard time understanding your original information for that site. Also, Site 50 seems to be alternating between 935.0375 and 935.0500. This morning, it's on 935.0375, at least that's what FMPA shows. I'm going to leave this thread open for a bit, in case I mis...

Re: Industrial Communications and Electronics MotoTrbo Systems

Eric,

Can you confirm the Farmington site frequencies? Maybe I'm just missing something, but the Wiki currently only has three frequencies and you seem to be indicating four.

Thanks,

It's PTT using the AT&T cell network. There is a New User guide at this link, http://northeastradios.com/pgm-download_media.php?name=Nextel_welcome_package_11-18.pdf Seems like an expensive way to do it, especially since the radios don't have cell phone capability. But I don't think this Nextel is a...

Re: ICE MotoTRBO TRS Decoding Project

Very nice work, Eric. My two prime candidates for the fourth frequency were 937.4500 and 937.4625 based on what was used at the analog site when that was up. I had planned on finding an excuse to drive out to Rutland, but you've saved me the effort. The Quincy site had a frequency that did the same ...

TG 185 was just active with talk of an Alert 1 for an aircraft with a gear problem that was going to do a tower fly by. TG 51 also had some related traffic.
Those are both Worcester Airport Talkgroups
185 is ORH OPS and 51 is ORH FIRE

Re: USB-1 Programming Cable

Yes, it will work. The older Uniden scanners need a computer with a serial port to connect to. The USB-1 cable replicates a serial port, which is why it costs so much. The x36HP and SDS scanners don't need a serial port and connect directly to a USB cable. The x36HP scanners ship with a standard USB...

Re: USB-1 Programming Cable

You don't need the USB-1 for the x36HP scanners. A regular mini USB cable with a mini USB connector will work fine. The other port is for GPS input, which is why they are sending you a GPS cable.

Thanks! That coincides with what I've been hearing in Easton. Engine 12, Ambulance 11, and so on. Gary, yes. Easton 1x, Foxboro 2x, Mansfield 3x, Norton 4x are a direct result of the regionalization efforts. If they haven't all yet made the changes (Foxboro limited since they are mostly in the 20s a...

I bought this used about a year ago. It's been totally reliable, but I decided to keep my 536HP because that has DMR and NXDN. Receives analog and P25 conventional frequencies, Motorola, EDACS, LTR, and P25 trunking. It's programmed mostly for eastern MA currently. Since nothing is perfect, I can on...

Re: Comtronics UHF MotoTrbo Trunk

Exciting stuff! I've heard TG 14 a couple of times, but it just confused me. I couldn't figure out exactly who it was. One time, I think whoever answered accidentally keyed up this system instead of the Boston hospitals system, which just further confused me. In any event, I'll add them to the Wiki....

I don't know that we can get more conclusive than that. :) I've updated the Wiki Page. Not to resurrect an inactive thread, but on OneVoice TG 600023 I heard "Radio shop to Eastern Bus on a radio check," so I think that fairly conclusively ID's them. I just happened to be scanning with the ID search...

The news this morning said that the operators are expecting 50,000 people today. Also, there will be shuttle buses from as far away as Plaistow, NH. Water taxis from the Boston waterfront as well.

Should be a busy day on the radio.
