There are a lot of reasons both for and against regionalization. It's huge once you get out of the northeast. Whether that's good or bad, I can't say. In Austin/Travis County fire dispatch is centralized out of Austin FD. They dispatch the city apparatus and the outside the city departments as well....

It's a huge undertaking, but we're making progress.

I haven't heard anything for 2-3 months. Mike mentioned on RR that they had switched over, so it's probably done.

I was in downtown Boston last Friday and the control channel was five bars on the SDS200. No traffic, though.

From what I recall, unlike the newer scanners you need to program all of the frequencies in. The scanner will find the control channel, but isn't able to create the voice frequencies.
