Re: The Mystery DMR Wiki and Thread.
Mike has 463.8750 listed as an unknown NXDN. It's actually part of the County Communications NXDN96 site in Georgetown. TG700 is a cab company not an ambulance, although these days it's not always easy to tell. TG300 is Northeast Regional Ambulance, which formerly was on the LTR system. Once we've I...

Re: SDS100 P25 Conventional
Mike knows the RF side of things a lot more than I ever will, but my impression is that the Filtering was never completed the way that UPMan envisioned. Particularly incomplete was guidance on how to use them. As a result I generally end up playing with the settings until I get comfortable with the ...

Re: SDS100 P25 Conventional
There are a number of PDs south of Boston using P25 conventional and both my SDS100 and SDS200 pick them up very well. The MSP analog system seems very location dependent and I get it well most of the time both at home on the SDS100 and in my truck on the SDS200. Both work really well on P25 Phase 1...

Re: Trouble receiving Cape Fire.
What if he's out in Zone 6 land? Or for that matter, what if he's off Cape in southeast MA? Which is why I asked about his location. What he said! The CC did rotate to 859.2375 a few weeks ago and has been constant there since. If you're not programmed for that to be a CC you should. Check the wiki ...

Re: ADS-B
I'd like to thank Scott for dragging me down THIS rabbit hole. He's a bad man. First, it was "SDR on the Cheap." Sure, cheap. After buying multiple dongles, then an Airspry, then a used laptop to run it all, then the Fastlane version of DSDPlus, then a second SDR set up for traveling, it sure doesn'...

Re: Worth moving antenna to attic?
No radio project is complete until you've whacked your head at least once, cut both hands trying to blindly run a cable, and had to run to some store to get a part or tool you never thought you'd need. I managed to fish a cable up through the wall. I banged my head a couple times, but my mini discon...

Re: FCC Searching for licenses
I actually meant the wildcard feature on the FCC license site. If you don't know the precise name of the company, put in a partial name and it will come up with everything that's close and some things that aren't. It's how I found all of the licenses for a couple of systems. Wildcard is good I progr...

Re: FCC Searching for licenses
That works well, although at times it can be slow. There are more reports available at the "Table of Contents" in the upper left hand corner. Sometimes I'll search by name using the wildcard feature. It's surprising what comes up from time to time. I use this address. https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/Gener...

Driving home tonight, I picked up the Worcester P25 trunk in Randolph and Stoughton. Very unusual to receive that this far away from Worcester.

Re: FCC Searching for licenses
The FCC database is being weird again. Using this website works, but the others listed here just give me a security protocol violation message.
I should say, it sort of works, but returns no results.
Maybe I've been bad or something.

Re: Update Issues
Good work. I plan to continue as I have time hitting random Wiki pages and checking on external links. Websites come and go with some regularity, even government ones. So, as with frequency information, it makes sense to reconfirm them from time to time. All 2,009 wiki pages have been viewed and tho...

Re: Update Issues
I took a look at it, but I don't think I changed anything. At least not on purpose. On the VT and RI military pages, I removed the formatting characters that were causing issues, but nothing else. I've correcting the external links that returned 404 messages when I can find updated pages. Those aren...

I figured it out after a bit. That message applies to new/updated passwords only. I guess it will nag me to do something, but allow me to just click through with the old one. Kind of weird, but not a problem.

Re: Idea - wiki page with common frequency errors
I have found that even the newer SDR dongles need some adjustment based on what band you're trying to listen to. Airspy is the only hardware that is always spot on. On my mobile set up, I always "calibrate" the control dongle first on a known system. Once that's done, I'll adjust the voice dongle. S...
