Re: Pro Voice on Cape
San Antonio and Bexar county or early adopters of EDACS and pro-voice. They were using that as early as the late 1980s which was the first time I visited San Antonio. I don't think there was any other trunking in Texas at the time, Austin was still using UHF on frequency similar to what Boston polic...

Re: To Regionalize The Cape
There are a lot of reasons both for and against regionalization. It's huge once you get out of the northeast. Whether that's good or bad, I can't say. In Austin/Travis County fire dispatch is centralized out of Austin FD. They dispatch the city apparatus and the outside the city departments as well....

Thanks Jeff.

I haven't heard anything for 2-3 months. Mike mentioned on RR that they had switched over, so it's probably done.

I was in downtown Boston last Friday and the control channel was five bars on the SDS200. No traffic, though.

CH47 is on the way back to Norwood, the other two aren't showing up on ADSB Exchange so probably landed already.

Helicopters over Foxborough
Three Army helicopters, a Chinook, Apache, and Blackhawk have been flying out of Norwood Airport for the past few days. Foxborough PD released a statement of FB that they are going to be doing a flyover this Sunday at the Patriots game and again in December at the Army - Navy game. They did a show a...

Re: Wideband on T-band?
It was no surprise that politicians from the cities affected worked hard to derail the auction. There was a lot of pressure from the cities to retain T Band.

Re: Stoughton Fire
Originally the plan didn't include moving the PD as that's what most people were complaining about. The fire chief pitched it as a more cost efficient way to dispatch the fire while saving money on PSAP costs, especially training. Being Stoughton, that may well have changed. Yes ... PD is not expect...

Re: Stoughton Fire
Different voices, which is expected. Also dispatchers figuring out who goes where.
I'm surprised that they aren't adopting unified call signs as did Foxborough.
Police are still dispatching themselves as was planned. Holbrook is the PSAP.

Re: CoMIRS Coverage Help
I thought that the "Easier to Read" manual said that for the XT you had to program all of the frequencies, but maybe I read it wrong. Looking at my 325P2 programming I only have the control channel frequencies programmed, so maybe I misread the manual. You have a 396XT. You only need the c...

Re: CoMIRS Coverage Help
From what I recall, unlike the newer scanners you need to program all of the frequencies in. The scanner will find the control channel, but isn't able to create the voice frequencies. Newer scanners will do that. There are some digital channels on Zone 8, but mostly for Franklin County. Thank you al...

I was getting Swansea PD UHF on my 325P2 with a Remtronix 842 last night. That was inside my family room, which has pretty horrible reception over all. I got N. Attleboro FD this morning as well.

Re: CoMIRS Coverage Help
I can see where it might confuse people. Maybe a name change or change the wording of the first line in the MSP main page to replace "legacy" with "Existing 800Mhz analog trunk." "Legacy" often interpreted as no longer active or in the past. I know that there are P25 Ta...

Thanks again. 5G rollout? Other than on the existing Verizon, ATT, and T Mobile systems? I admit to being clueless on this. In MA government projects 5 years is overnight. ;) Remember, in government there is nothing more permanent than a temporary anything! Correct, any (e) or (non-e) version radio ...

Re: ICE 900 trunk conversion to DMR Tier III
Great post, thanks! It does explain a lot of what we're hearing and not hearing. One area of confusion (to me). Only new subscriber radios need to be physically touched, but after that reprogramming and updates can be done OTR? So IC&E is essentially building a whole new system. Are they adding ...

I hopped in the truck about 8:30 this morning heading out for breakfast. QFD had just started their morning radio test, so I applied the IFX. I've been listening in the truck on and off all day and have had no instances of digital sound at any time. I'll keep testing, but it seems like the problem i...

Re: Quincy Fire Ch. 1
Thanks. I forgot about the IFX setting. I'll do that first before I start fiddling with the filters again. Sounds like your SDS is getting images, something it's famous for. Try changing the IFX to see if it makes a difference. If that doesn't change the filter. The receiver detects the PL audio com...

Thanks! It sounded like a lot of road closures, but I couldn't figure out what was going on. Quincy Fire Ch. 1
For some reason I get a lot of digital noise on 483.5375, especially when I'm in Quincy or Weymouth. It happens on the SDS200 in my truck. I've checked the settings and they are all correct. PL, audio mode, modulation are as they should be. I have it set up on my SDR computer in DSD+, but don't get ...

Re: MSP - Lower Basin moving to Upper Basin [Brighton]
I don't know that most people don't know that South Boston isn't part of Boston. Even growing up in far away Wollaston I knew that. ;) Also, H-9 is in South Boston, and F HQ is in East Boston. If nothing else, the PR person should have confirmed the fact before publishing. No matter though, really. ...
