Re: 158.425 Analog

I'm hearing both sides of the conversation. Another possibility is cheap Chinese radios. I'd actually think that was a more likely possibility. Either way, the conversation goes on as I type this. Definitely fishermen.

There is nothing on 163.025.

158.425 Analog

Some "colorful" communications in my area on this frequency. This is not an actual frequency as per the bandplan; closest is 158.4225. It is definitely maritime in nature given some talk about anchors etc., periodic harsh language, and relatively strong from Mashpee. No CTCSS/DCS tones, and simplex.

Re: Yarmouth PD Change?

This new system is compatible with the forthcoming CoMIRS P25 system, where the old one was not. Whether they are using it to operate on the MSP system or on their conventional 800 system is irrelevant; it should function fine on either. I'm guessing that there are "growing pains" with 855.2375. I c...

I missed this thread somehow....I sure hope the recompile of NEFD, which uses General Menu Reports as its source, doesn't have data up to 2006.... :D

New England Frequency Database FINALLY Updated

As the topic suggests, data as of 4/27/21 has been compiled for our 6 state region between the frequencies of 25 MHz and 960 MHz for all active private land mobile licenses.

Re: Sandwich PD

Down here on Cape Cod historically there has really been no substitute for having your own system, especially where in-building and basement coverage is concerned. There is a marked difference. However, the specs for the forthcoming system look pretty damned good for such things. That's on paper of ...

Re: Sandwich PD

I don't know what future plans are but one has to wonder if the conventional 800 departments will transition to CoMIRS when the new system gets down to the cape. If it has the capacity for the larger departments, and they are agreeable, it would be I think overall beneficial for interoperability. As...

Re: Remote receiver setup

ProScan does have a 30 day fully functional trial. It is hands down the best for unattended monitoring as far as I'm concerned. The 2021 version of my setup is not quite back at that level yet (stay tuned for that!) or I'd try it for you with the display via my 536. My 436HP is out getting surgery d...

Re: FM Broadcast Band DXing Questions

I'm a long time user of both the Airspy and SDRPlay devices and I'm aware of their capability, most definitely, but I was interested in a dedicated, hardware based, rack mounted, receiver that is good for DX, actually. It may never happen; just thinking out loud and soliciting info.

FM Broadcast Band DXing Questions

Hi, I'm in the midst of a bit of a renovation here, and have considered some type of more dedicated setup for an attempt to do some FM DXing during band openings. I know some of you, notably Mike, report on this and as I recall may have some equipment that is pertinent to DXing. I have done a little...

Re: Trouble receiving Cape Fire.

True, I'm making an assumption it's Zone 04. That being said 855.5375 was the primary control channel for a LONG time. I'm taking a guess that perhaps it was not programmed as such and that's now why the OP is having a problem receiving the system. But you could be entirely correct. I'm sure we'll f...

Re: Cranston Fire Oddity

So it's got to be east of you then, I'm guessing. You'd obviously hear it if I am, or I'd think. I'm using SDR# with an Airspy SDR and a resonant antenna mounted in a high spot. I can't try it from home at the moment due to some "shack renovations" in progress. That's about 5 miles east of my curren...

I use CC 859.2375. I seem to get all of the Cape PD & FD.

Chuck
What he said! The CC did rotate to 859.2375 a few weeks ago and has been constant there since. If you're not programmed for that to be a CC you should. Check the wiki and ensure you have all of the CC's for the system programmed.

Interesting. We'll see if he can survive the masses and "experts". Perhaps something new is coming down the pike; after all why bother having a rep there after all this time if there isn't.

Re: Search ignores common words - like "Boston" and "fire"

Try it now; it appears to be fixed. This looks like an oversight on my part, back to the days where I ran the website. I had to change a setting and then re-index the database. But, I just did a search on Boston Fire and it worked.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

With 75 MPH wind gusts impending, at least here on Cape Cod, and flooding rains, 2020 is just not going away quietly. Re: Winter Storms make great new Finds

Signals are a little stronger here now when they are present so you may be correct. Also saw/heard a signal on 163.565 but the signal is too far in the mud to make out the audio. I am hearing what sounds like MDC1200 on it. It appeared that .565 was indeed centered, i.e. not .5625 etc. I went in sea...
