Both Southold PD and Southampton PD both in on VHF, very clear in the last half hour. This is sticking around some!

Showing pretty good into NS right now
http://aprs.mennolink.org/

Sadly a weekend, with less RF traffic, but then sometimes easier to ID the distances too [trade offs]

NOAA Weather from Cape May NJ was obliterating the Providence NOAA station on 162.400. Also have 155.880 D172 Spring Lake New Jersey PD blasting in here like they were next door. Hopefully I'll have a chance to report on more later.

Check the 500-503 T band. Lots of P25 signals there, some ENC, most weak, but viewable and occasionally readable. 500.475, 500.525, 500.875, 501.075, 501.350, 501.550, and more. All from trunked systems I'd say given the different sound of the signal. Without looking yet as I recall there are numerous 500 MHz trunked systems in NJ.

Even 800 MHz on a non-resonant antenna showed some openings. Might be a night to go after some systems down the coast...with a resonant antenna!

Well it seems to be dying off some here.

Probably a good time to call it a night here.

155.4900 94.8 Manasquan, NJ
155.1000 D664 Upper Townsp NJ
155.8800 D172 Spring Lake, NJ

A couple more from earlier.

I chatted with Jeff earlier who was hearing FM quite a ways south as well.

Via DSD+ I'm watching the Nassau County NY TRS with a CC of 501.0500. Most TG's appear encrypted but there are exceptions. Pretty cool. DSD+ automatically locks out the ENC TG's.

Hello,

Since I travel there yearly, I know it as the Philadelphia metro area. SEPTA has a trunked system on T-Band.

I was a bit surprised to see Nassau County NY using 500 MHz. I'm not sure I've copied Philadelphia from here; probably a bit of a stretch as it's "inland" a bit. I surely have heard plenty of VHF-HI from eastern PA under the right conditions so it's possible.

DSD+ is such a handy tool for DX'ing these systems. I would encourage anyone not using it to do so and learn how to use it. With P25 systems, once DSD+ is properly set up, it is as easy as tuning to the control channel. DSD+ pretty much does the rest.

I was using it to monitor the VASTARS signal I mentioned above right before I called it a night. VA State Police on TG 49 was pretty active.
