Needham Tower Work

Post by W1KNE »

If you are driving around and are on 128 (hopefully you're staying home but I know many here are still working), pay attention to the tall tower just to the west of 128, near the Route 9 interchange. They are removing the top antenna(s) today. 21,000 lbs being lowered to the ground.

You can hear their comms on 462.6625 D032, all simplex.

Thanks, Mike. Getting into Burlington pretty well with an attic antenna w/LNA.

Some of the more interesting & unique monitoring I've heard in a long time.

Amazing what 5 watts at 1,300 feet will cover.

Most of the work is ready, the pre-rigging testing. Unfortunately a late wind kicked up, and the antenna stays on top till tomorrow morning.

Today was a good day. 17,500 lbs of antenna were safely lowered to the ground without incident.
1-3 more lowers happening, followed by about 3-4 of new equipment being raised.
