Western MA State Police Freq.

#1 Post by lexx333 » 11 Dec 2012 12:50

I have a Radio Shack Pro 106 that is no longer picking up the Western MA state police frequencies in the Springfield area. Has something changed during Nov 2012 with the rebanding?

Actually after reprogramming it about 5 different times it finally took. I am not sure why but it is finally working again. I was uploading all of the state frequencies at once to the scanner but the final time I did it one troop at a time and it worked. Thank you for your reply. This was really starting to baffle me.

state police mainly operate on the lowband frequency of 42.46 with the pl of 141.3, with sporadic use on the digital 800mhz trunked system. what part of western mass do you live in?

It is working, at least the Mt Tom site. I would check for any inadvertant lockouts or systems being shut off. Perhaps reprogram the database.

Springfield area is mostly 800MHz, not low band

With all due respect, you could not be more wrong. B5 out of Russell uses 42.46 almost all of the time, and is the only remaining troop to do so. Shelburne, Cheshire, and Lee use the low band probably 20-30% most. B1 uses 800 conventional, while the remainder use the analog trunk and some digital use.

However, seeing that this thread was posted in the APCO25 discussions forum, the poster is most likely asking about the P25 system out there. The system is still in a testing phase, so expect outages and such until it goes fully online.
