Network 178 Oddities

#1 Post by Scott » 27 Mar 2018 12:06

I'm trying to wrap my brain (what's left of it) around why there are talkgroups on Site 2 (Mashpee) dedicated to simulcasting Marine channels. Using the updated 436HP I've found 3202 simulcasts CH-16 and 3203 simulcasts CH-21.

I believe the Steamship Authority is still using this system and I wonder if this may be the reason, although USCG CH-21 doesn't make sense in that case. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I was just thinking the same thing and lo and behold here's your post. It sounded like 3202 may also have traffic from CH-13 on it, which made me think of that very entity. I haven't checked to see if their analog repeater is still running but I will do so over the course of the day.

Scott,

TG 2506 is the Steamship Authority. From the traffic I heard this morning, it's the food operation. Talk about an inventory, throwing away cheese that was "A little green around the edges.", and tossing out yogurt that someone put into a case that wasn't refrigerated.

Next time I take the ferry, I'll make sure to pack my own lunch!
We're peace loving people, we're not hunting trouble, but if trouble should find us, we'll stand up and fight.
