Wynn / Encore casino, Everett

As my train passed the Encore in Everett, I got to wondering about their radios, as one does...

WRAR389 is the only license I can turn up for them:

857.8625
858.8625
859.8625

Licensed for analog voice and DMR, conventional. (Incidentally, it's wideband voice. I guess that's still allowed on 800 MHz?)

I only have a 440 HT with me today so I can't listen in to see if it's on the air, and my home QTH is probably too far away. Might be an interesting listen for someone in the area, though, to see if it's really live.

Low VHF and 800 MHz weren't required to narrowband, only VHF high and UHF. 900 MHz was narrow from the beginning.

Hello,

I was over at Costco Everett and searched 800 MHz with my SDS100. I got a really strong DMR Tier 3 control channel on 857.8625 Color Code 0. The SysID is 1. I am going to setup a radio tomorrow and see if there is any talkgroup activity.

Hello,

I am not seeing any talkgroup activity on the system. The opening is scheduled for June 23, so there should be some activity soon.

Now in talks to sell the hotel/casino to MGM. Which may or may not delay the opening.

I wonder if security operations will be encrypted? MGM doesn't seem to use it at the Springfield casino.

Hello,

Over the past week I have seen very light activity on talkgroup 18 by just a handful of units. The signal has been weak with my log-periodic beam, so I could not get any recordings with my scanner. I tried a 800 MHz beam and it seems better. I will let it run over tomorrow and see the results.
