Boston Marathon
Boston Marathon
Any idea on the channel lineup this year?
Re: Boston Marathon
I don't imagine that there will be much change from years past.
State TRS, SOPS, EVENTS ETC., BAPERNs, UTAC s, VTACs, 8TACs, Boston Police, Fire, EMS, the various cities and towns along the route police and fire.
Search this message board for years gone by for exact frequencies and talkgroups to get an idea.

Re: Boston Marathon
Exactly - not much changes from year to year.
Massachusetts has one of the better Interop/Mutual Networks around with the Gateways/Patches to BAPERN, METRO FIRE, NEMLEC into the State Analog and Digital Trunks [CoMIRS] for the LPS, SOPS and Events TGs
as well as the Boston PD Patches with the Federal Partners using the channels from the NIFOG that get used regularly [Marathon, First Night, Head of the Charles, PanMass, Pops Goes Boston etc etc]

Re: Boston Marathon
In the past, All Comm has provided rental radios for BAA Operations along the route.
https://www.snewiki.com/wiki/index.php/ ... gies_Trunk
As you'll see from the Wiki entry, the TGs are split among the three sites.
It would be worth listening a day or two before the event to see if there is any activity.
The last time I listened to the trunk system, the three sites were not networked.

I don't believe that the Waltham site is active. I don't know where all the talk groups that were on Waltham went.

Re: Boston Marathon
I expect that between Boston and Hopkington, they'll be able to carry the load. I can hear Hopkington down where I am, so I expect coverage will be good along much of the route.

A Few DMR bursts just showed up on 450.8250 my guess is it's TotalRF or CP starting to set up the Camera Pool/Video Coverage. This is a freq they used in 2019.

Re: Boston Marathon
New TG heard during testing this morning:
217 Course Operations, Boston site. Didn't catch the channel designation.
Also heard during testing this morning on TG 233, radio tech gave it as Yankee Busing. I heard rumors that Cavalier had lost the BAA contract as lead bus company. Checking with a friend who works for Yankee who confirmed Yankee now has the BAA lead bus contract.
New TG added to wiki and will update the designation for TG 233.

Re: Boston Marathon
Pardon my ignorance,
Can someone explain what I am hearing from TotalRF right now (10/10; 15:30)?
Using DSD+FL tuned to 450.8250, I confirm in the log file DMR voice, CC11, Slot 1, TG1700
It sounds like continuous low-level static in the background with mic checks (voices) overtop.

Re: Boston Marathon
Total RF is the national crew that does the television production of the Marathon. They bring all the fancy motorcycles and vehicles that that don't run on gasoline but are covered with microwave antennas. I'm not sure yet but I think .8250 is the wireless feed of Directors PL and .7125 may be the IFB. So many of them are on a wired intercom but the vehicles obviously need a wireless version of the same. Until they start the race it's tough to figure out the usage for sure.

Re: Boston Marathon
I just heard some P25 activity on the 139.9625 National Guard Boston repeater frequency, sounds like in the Back Bay. The military police I just walked by have the usual Yankee Division shoulder patches and radios with long VHF-high band antennas on their plate carriers.
